According to this team’s official Web site, former Barnstormer Keith Maxwell has signed with the Schaumburg Flyers of the Northern League.
Maxwell hit .270 with four homers and 20 RBIs in 42 games after joining the Barnstormers in July. The first baseman/DH also played for the Newark Bears last season.

We’ve had one day to digest the news that the Barnstormers plan to use Steve Van Note as their starting third baseman. This came as a bit of a surprise. Although Van Note’s name was mentioned as a likely player on the team’s 25-man roster, the assumption here was he’d be a utility guy.

Catcher Lance Burkhart and utility man Steve Van Note have re-signed with the Barnstormers, the team announced today.
Burkhart, 32, is one of the original Barnstormers. The two-time Atlantic League All-Star joined the team prior to spring training in 2005. Last season he batted .222 with 16 homers and 57 RBIs in 98 games.

When you look back at spring training 2006, you realize the Barnstormers were absolutely loaded with pitching. Former Barnstormer Cliff Smith will begin his first season as Elizabethtown’s head baseball coach when the Blue Jays take on Shenandoah Saturday. The ex-relief pitcher was hired by E-town in December.

The York Revolution has signed infielder Vic Gutierrez and pitcher Charlie Hesseltine.
Gutierrez, 29, is a three-time Atlantic League All-Star who has advanced as high as Triple-A. He batted .307 for the Camden Riversharks in 2005 and played in Italy last season.
