It hasn’t been a good spring for the Barnstormers who made it back to affiliated ball. Rob Henkel is the latest to get released. Henkel was in camp with the Boston Red Sox and was hoping to earn a spot in the starting rotation with their Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket, R.I.
Henkel, 28, went 7-4 with [...]

Reggie Taylor didn’t make the cut with the Washington Nationals. He was released earlier in the week.
Taylor found himself in an uphill climb this spring. He wasn’t invited to Nationals camp until two weeks after it started and the organization already had an excess of veteran outfielders.
With the Double-A and Triple-A seasons set to begin [...]

Foster obviously still wants to play. He’s a [...]

This is good news for Long Island, the league’s glamour franchise. The Ducks have the luxury of competing against the Road Warriors, who are almost certain to have a losing [...]

Over at AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com, a fan pointed out in the comments section that Gustavo Martinez’s birthdate is listed as 11/9/75 in an old program. That would make him 31, not 26 as was suggested at thebaseballcube.com. I double-checked with the Howe database and it also lists Martinez as 31.
Poor Gustavo. He’s aged 13 years in the [...]

The Barnstormers are in an enviable position. With a month to go until camp, they already have five starting pitchers in place. Even better, all five of them have pitched in Triple-A.
This is Adam Gladstone’s stamp on the roster. While manager Frank Klebe played a strong role in bringing back so many of last year’s [...]
