‘My dreams got shattered’
April 4, 2007 by Jason Guarente

“It was a shot to me. I’ve been playing professionally for 11 years and I had been to 10 spring trainings. This is the first time I’d ever been released.”
There’s a column in today’s New Era about Quincy Foster. The Barnstormers outfielder discusses his time with the Giants and his return to Lancaster.
The disappointment definitely hasn’t changed Foster. He’s the same energetic, fun-loving guy he was during his first tour of duty with the Barnstormers.

The column is available here.
Great article Jason! Hopefully Quincy will be around for a long time now and call this place home.
Yep, I see it now. An 80 year old Quincy having the stadium seat he sat in for 40 years as a Barnstormer Alumnus dedicated to him in one big grandiose ceremony. Then we go on to beat York that same day! (What dead horse?)
Thanks for the compliment, Mr. B.
Quincy talked about getting into coaching when I had him on the phone. I suspect he’ll be hanging around baseball long after his playing days are over. The man just loves the game.
Quincy is one of my best friends. I have seen him go though Harrisburg, Camden, Lancaster, and Connecticut. He is an unbelievable ballplayer, and unbelieveable person. Lancaster is the only place he really got a chance to shine. Quincy does really love the game, just spend a day with him and you will see how much baseball means to him. Quincy will be around for a very long time. You can take the man out of baseball, but you can never take the baseball out of the man.
