Barnstormers 4, Camden 0
The Barnstormers held Camden to six hits as they earned their first win of the exhibition schedule at Harry Heilmann Field Friday. Steve Van Note, also known as the king of spring training, delivered a two-run double to spark a three-run second inning that vaulted the Barnstormers to the win.
The lineup …
1. Foster, LF: 2-for-3
Hileman, CF: 0-for-2
2. Hart, 2B: 0-for-4
3. Todd, DH: 1-for-3, run
Burkhart, DH: 0-for-0, walk
4. Delgado, 1B: 1-for-3
5. Williams, RF-LF: 1-for-4, RBI double
6. Woods, SS-3B: 1-for-3, run
7. Van Rossum, CF-RF: 1-for-3, run
8. Van Note, 3B: 1-for-2, 2 RBIs
Gonzalez, SS: 1-for-1, walk
9. Santana, C: 1-for-2, RBI
Jeremy Deitrick, C: 0-for-2
Pitching …
Norderum: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Worked exclusively out of the stretch as he tries to refine his mechanics. Looks like he’ll be the No. 4 starter.
Sobkowiak: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Looked better than any pitcher so far this spring. A nasty slider and kept the ball down. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Sobkowiak work his way back into the rotation. “He’s a lot smoother,” pitching coach Rick Wise said.
Peeples: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Peeples is getting closer to 100 percent now that he’s more than a year removed from elbow surgery. Was throwing his slider, which he couldn’t do last season.
Vazquez-Santiago: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Ackerman: 2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Struggled a little with command of his fastball in his second inning. Otherwise, a solid outing.
Some notes: The pitching, obviously, was terrific. Camden was held to two hits in the first seven innings. This was a good step considering most of the guys who threw today will be in the bullpen – at least at the start of the season.
*Woods looks great in the field. Made an excellent play on a pop up to short. He’s going to be a valuable utility man.
*The Barnstormers are bringing another pitcher into camp Saturday. It’s a lefty. If he wows the coaching staff, he could put himself into the mix. I’ll provide his name tomorrow if he shows up.
*It looks like the team will carry 12 pitchers at the beginning of the season until they see what happens with Gustavo Martinez. That means no one will be cut here, unless the new guy takes someone’s job.
*Clayton Andrews could be available toward the end of May.
*No game Saturday. Just a workout at the complex.
*York beat the Road Warriors 7-0 Friday. The Revs have scored 24 runs in two games this spring and Travis Hake tells me their lineup is loaded. So watch out.
That’s it for now.

So, tomorrow is the day Bynum may show up, or is this another lefthander you are referring to.
Different guy. This one just got released from A ball.
As of this morning, no one had heard from Bynum. I think that ship might have sailed, but you never know for sure, I guess.
How are the York Dorks looking? Anything to worry about?
I haven’t had a chance to watch them since their games have been at the same time as the Barnstormers. Some think the Revs’ lineup will be better than Lancaster’s. We’ll have to wait and see.
One thing is for sure: York’s not going to be a pushover. Their infield of Espy, Hake, Bautista, Gutierrez and Dryer is really good and their outfield has two ex-big leaguers.
Yeah the York team does look like they have more than your typical first year team, Looks like a nice mix of players on that team so far.
In regards to the new picture of Frank the Tank, if you look at the sweat stain on the skippers shirt in the belly area, you’ll notice it is in the shape of Lancaster County. I’m not a superstitious person, but that to me is definitely a good sign/stigmata!
Oh my gosh you’re right!Frank is a holy Barnstormer! Does this mean we should start to pray to Frank? Maybe WGAL should get a hold of this story?
PS. After I wrote the above comment I went and prayed to Frank. I asked for peace between me and my step mom whom I hadn’t talked to in ten years. Five min. after I was done praying she called me! We’re now going to the Olive Garden tonight to patch things up!
So I have to say… Pray to Holy Frank for he must be a Saint.
Jason, maybe you can ask Frank to love our prayers and tell him that we cry for his stigmata!
I have a confession: I needed a google search to figure out who Leaping Lenny Poffo is. Have you ever noticed that he and Mr. Barnstormer are never in the same place at the same time? Hmm …
I’ve noticed that too Jason. Maybe it’s a restraining order they have on each other that keeps them from being in the same place? I know they were buddies once and I hear Leaping Lenny can be abusive to his friends. The few times I’ve met Mr. B he was usually wearing sunglasses and I could tell he was hiding black eyes. Once I asked him what happened and he got real nervous and said he fell off a ladder.
