Hake out a month
Posted in Atlantic League, Lancaster Barnstormers, Pennsylvania, Sports, York Revolution, baseball, minor leagues on May 31, 2007 | 5 Comments »
York second baseman Travis Hake suffered a broken hand sliding into second base during Wednesday’s game against Camden. He’s expected to miss a month.
This is another tough break for the former Barnstormer. Hake, who is hitting .254 with a .367 on-base percentage in 18 games, missed six weeks last season because of bone chips in [...]
Griffith to Frontier League

Former Barnstormers pitcher Derek Griffith has signed with the Slippery Rock Sliders of the Frontier League. Griffith is a 6-6 lefty who won’t turn 25 until October, so there’s still plenty of time for him to earn another affiliated shot.
Other former Stormers in the Frontier League include Alex Derhak, Chris Clem and Domingo Acosta.

Here’s a transcript of a brief conversation I had with a scout about the Atlantic League. It provides a little insight into how they view the players we watch at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
What’s your opinion of the players you‘ve seen in this league this season?
There’s some talent here. There’s nothing that’s going to wow. But [...]

Bo Hart is the Barnstormers’ starting second baseman. He’s hitting .227 with one homer and eight RBIs in 21 games.
The nine-year veteran reached the big leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2003. After spending most of the past four years with Triple-A Memphis, this is Hart’s first season in independent ball.
Below is a longer [...]

vs CAMDEN RIVERSHARKS
Ryan Schurman (1-0, 1.64 ERA) vs.
Clayton Andrews (NR)
The Barnstormers try to win back-to-back games for the first time since May 9 and 10. That was when Lance Burkhart was scorching hot and all seemed right with Lancaster’s baseball world. Andrews is making his first pro appearance since September of 2005. Schurman [...]

The Barnstormers play just their second series against a division rival as Camden rolls into town. Stevens, the team’s most consistent starting pitcher, tries to snap Lancaster’s four-game losing streak. Ferrari has been one of the Atlantic League’s top starters this season [...]

As expected, there were a few transactions today …
