The Barnstormers play just their second series against a division rival as Camden rolls into town. Stevens, the team’s most consistent starting pitcher, tries to snap Lancaster’s four-game losing streak. Ferrari has been one of the Atlantic League’s top starters this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings.

RECORD: 7-15
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Josh Stevens (9-inning, complete-game shutout was the third in team history — first at Clipper Magazine Stadium).
WHAT WENT RIGHT: Stevens looked like an ace. The righthander allowed nine hits and no walks. His outings are becoming “win days.” The Barnstormers are 4-1 when he pitches and 3-14 when someone else does. Stevens is 6-1 with a 1.94 ERA in eight career Atlantic League starts.
*Jutt Hileman, batting fifth, went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. His home run was a monumental shot that cleared the center-field wall. The only other Barnstormer I recall hitting one that far out to center was Ryan Minor.
*Former York backup catcher Russ Cleveland, playing RF, went 2-for-3 with a walk and a sacrifice fly in his Barnstormers debut. He also threw out a runner at second on a would-be double — a nice in-your-face to the scribe who says he’s only a catcher.
*Catcher Jeremy Deitrick went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. Deitrick has been maligned on this site, but he broke out of it today.
My commentary: There is an obvious competition going on here. The Barnstormers are carrying four catchers and that’s not going to continue forever. Once utility man Mike Woods is activated from the DL — perhaps by the end of the week — someone will likely have to go. Cleveland and Deitrick made statements today.
*Quincy Foster and Bo Hart had two hits each. Foster had his 10th steal.
*The Barnstormers collected 15 hits and a team-record seven doubles.
*Pitcher Clayton Andrews arrived and will make his first pro start in 21 months on Memorial Day.
WHAT WENT WRONG: Pitchers Todd Pennington and Derek Griffith were released. You never want to see it happen, but the Barnstormers felt they needed to make changes after their slow start.

No red jerseys. Not superstitious (spelling?). I see Detrieks playing. Oh well, I still feel a win.
I guess if your going to want to lead the league in something, it might as well be stranding runners.
Yeepee. It must be the white jerseys. Let’ts keep it going and remember guys, we do not have to give it back.
Alright Stormers!
Where is everybody? Up 5-0 through four and only four comments? Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone
Well, I hope most people are just opening up their pools and they haven’t actually been scared away with all the loosing going on!
A can and it’s 7/8 full. Thats quite the riddle!
YESSS I hope this game is the big turn around!!
Thanks Dave. Would’nt want to miss a win.
Yankees Lost!! Jeter blew it! …. YES!
Go the distance Joshy boy!!
Ok Josh, let’ts make history.
Hey, Guys I had a Gr8 time at the game…Cleveland and Dietrick had big games and Josh was unbelievable…I hope it keeps up. Still I’m not gonna go off the deep end and say we’re back ..it’s gonna take a big winning streak to get to .500 let alone get to the top of the division. But I’m a happy camper at the moment…hehe
Good work Stormin! If you don’t mind, please don’t shave your beard as long as we’re winning! You got the MOJO! (Just tell your wife that some guy named Mr. Barnstormer from a Blog that you visit thought it was helping the Barnstormers win, I’m sure she would be cool with it!).
Thanks for telling me you was going
We are back. I am not changing anything. I am wearing the same thing to the game that I did today and I am asking everyone to do the same. I am not superstitious but I do not want to take a chance.
It seems like the teams spirits are up. Let’s keep it going tomorrow guys.
Sorry I wasn’t blogging during the game… pool party was a blast. Ha Ha
Hey Stormin… make sure you don’t even wash the undies… I am very superstitious!
Could someone please tell me who Cleveland is and where did he come from?
What else can I say… WOW, what a game. Had the headset on while floating around the pool, it sounded great!!!!
Josh… an amazing job on a very hot day.
Catch you all at the Clipp Monday.
was a great game
took hundreds of photos
Russ Cleveland had been on York’s roster and seeing very little playing time so we “traded” for him. He came in here when we were very short on available players. This, however, was his first game.
Based on just this one game, it looks like we might have gotten a steal.
Where is Pennington going? Gonna miss him : (
I don’t know. Hopefully, he has a chance to hook on with someone. He can pitch much better than he has the last few outings.
Thanx Dave.
I’ll drop by to chat a bit before the game tomorrow.
Stormin, if you’re gonna go the distance, just make sure you keep a lot of baby powder on hand! I’m rootin for ya buddy!
PS. I hope Jason is alright??? He acts like he has a life or something!
I post without any Jason comments. How are we going to go on? How can we continue? We need our moderator.
I was impressed with Cleveland’s hitting and his fielding. Getting that out in the ninth that could have been a lead of double was “a whopper of a play”. When Woods does come back, it will be interesting to see what moves Frank makes. I think I have a good feeling what may happen but I will keep it to myself since they don’t pay me to be the coach.
Radical…that sounds like you had an awesome day then! Cooling off while I was roasting in the sun..haha See ya tomorrow! You find what you needed at PC? (that stuff for the players?)
Yeah, it’s tuff to tell what Frank will do once Woods comes back. Its hard to bank on Frank (YES!) these days. What ever he does I hope it’s not sick!
PS. What if Jason is lost in the jungle somewhere??!! and nobody knows he is missing! HANG IN THERE LITTLE BUDDY!!
Jason? Maybe he is … taking a vacation with the wife! Much needed family time. After all, didn’t he go to FL with the team?
Amy, no didn’t find what I was searching for at PC. My person that I “drop off in the staff parking lot” said the crap they want is only carried at Wal-mart. Looks like I’ll head out tomorrow before the game to surprise him. I really don’t approve of the stuff… being that my hubby is a dentist!!!
I plan on bringing an ice water fan to the game to help with the temps… have I ever mentioned that I am a winter person. 10 below and 10 feet of snow… I love it !
P.S. Jason we miss you
You guys crack me up.
I spent four hours at the ballpark on my day off today looking into a story that I’m not even going to write. Yes, it’s a full life I lead.
It was a good win for the Barnstormers. It seems like this offense is all or nothing. In the last five games, they’ve been shut out twice and have scored 8 and 12 runs. Strange.
YOU SCARED US! Well, at least we know you’re ok
“All or nothing” seems to be the case thats for sure. If they can find a way to spread it out we might have our championship team back!
Radical Mom—OK, we’re all dying to know what mystery substance it is you’re getting for the team. They way you guys are talking it kind of sounds like you’re trying to get them some steroids or as they call them in the muscle ghetto: Gym Candy, Arnolds, Pumpers, Stackers, Juice (just a tip). Or maybe you just are looking for specialized brownies?
At any rate maybe we can point you in the right direction!
The kind you put a pinch between your cheek and gum…. GROSS!!!!
Call off the dogs. Jason is back.
You could write the story and change the names and it might become a great novel.
“See you at the ballpark”.
Stormin, what is your projection for today’s game??? You were right on with a “big win” for Sunday’s game. Another big win??
