Harris acquired from Schaumburg
July 3, 2007 by Jason Guarente
The Barnstormers have acquired pitcher Ryan Harris to complete an earlier trade with the Northern League’s Schaumburg Flyers. Lancaster sent designated hitter Jimmy Hurst to Schaumburg on Friday.
In other moves Tuesday, catcher Lance Burkhart was activated and pitcher Phil Norton was released. The roster stands at 25.
Harris, 32, was 1-5 with a 6.30 ERA in seven starts for Schaumburg. The righthander entered this season with a lifetime 4.07 ERA in 195 games. He has played 10 seasons in five independent leagues. This is his first shot at the Atlantic League.
Catcher Josh Noviskey, the other PTBNL in the Hurst trade, was assigned to Camden.

Dude looks pissed.
Welcome Mr. Harris to the Barnstormers. I hope you find your stay enjoyable and just for the record, can you throw 4 Intentional Walk balls in a row?
is there where i can talk about the dance team?
ha
Yes, it is a menacing photo.
For the record, I put in two calls to Schaumburg’s manager today so I could provide some info about Harris, but apparently he couldn’t spare 90 seconds to talk about him.
Don’t worry Jason, me and Pitch will take care of Schaumburgs manager for you.
Pitch–You bring the honey and fire ants, and I’ll bring the duck tape and mini barnstormer bats.
I wonder if Frank gave him a call earlier?
I find Jason’s photo menacing. (place smilely face here)
Jason, I know you will not know this right now but are the Barnstormers going to keep him a starter with Lira doing ok or put him in the bullpen that is a mess. I think he goes into the starting rotation.
Put him in the pen. He is 1-5 as a starter in 7 starts. Maybe the reliever role will help. They need the right arm.
My guess is Harris will start.
This story was updated with Burkhart being activated and Norton being released.
Norton gone over Odom? I guess Norton being a lefty hurts since we need righties.
I am also suprised that we still need 3 catchers over a extra pitcher.
I was wrong.
Harris to the bullpen. Lira stays in the rotation and will start Wednesday night. Harris hasn’t been a reliever since 1999, but he seems excited about it.
How hard does he throw?
I don’t know. Harris is a command pitcher, but he has decent strikeout numbers for his career: 6.9 K per 9 innings. He’s a really friendly guy who is very excited to be here. He has always wanted to play in this league.
that’s an awesome attitude to come into the league with!
Story is updated to include info on the other PTBNL from the Hurst trade. He went to Camden.
so - a real basic question needs a simple answer
when Schaumberg is making the deal, are they dealing with Lancaster or are they dealing with BASA?
They’re dealing with Adam Gladstone, who runs BASA.
so Shaumberg isn’t really making a deal with Lancaster.
They’re making a deal with BASA. Who will then decide where the player will go.
Yep, that’s right.
huh…. That makes the whole situation even more lame than i originally thought.
