AT YORK REVOLUTION
Wayne Franklin (6-1, 4.84 ERA) vs.
Zack Parker (3-0, 1.10 ERA)
While much of the attention has turned to the Reggie Taylor debacle, the South Division race has taken a turn. Somerset has won five games in a row and now leads York by 1½. Although the Barnstormers are off in the distance at 6 games back, they can deal a blow to the Revs’ playoff hopes and capture the Community Cup by winning the next two games.
Pre-game notes:
– ALB.com and the Trenton Thunder’s official site notes that former Stormer Scott Patterson has been named the team’s fan favorite. I’m sure Patterson would prefer a promotion, but it’s still a nice honor.
– Pitcher Brett Evert was activated from the DL and released.
Lineups …
REVOLUTION (24-18): Keoni De Renne, 3B; Rayner Bautista, SS; Nate Espy, 1B; Jason Aspito, RF; Ramon Nivar, 2B; Joe Jiannetti, LF; Justin Singleton, CF; Luis Taveras, C; Luis Cotto, DH.

Scoring summary:

Stormers 6th: Burkhart steals home. Van Note’s home run scores Crozier.
Barnstormers lead 5-1.
Stormers 7th: Todd’s single scores Hileman.
Barnstormers lead 6-1.
Revs 7th: Aracena’s single scores Jiannetti.
Barnstormers lead 6-2.
RECORD: 20-22 (49-56)
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Zack Parker (6 1/3 innings, 7 hits, 2 earned runs)
SOME HIGHLIGHTS: Parker has been a revelation since joining the Barnstormers on July 29. The lefthander is 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA in five appearances. If Lancaster is somehow able to make a playoff run, Parker deserves credit for providing a huge boost to the rotation.
“He’s come in here, pitched with confidence, pitched with aggressiveness and pitched with poise,” interim manager Rick Wise said. “Every time he has gone out there he has given us a chance to win. He likes to take the ball. He loves to compete. That’s huge for a pitcher. He’s a take charge guy out there.”
*Coming to the Barnstormers has rejuvenated Parker’s enthusiasm for the game. His last two seasons with the Rockies were a struggle because of a high ERA and control problems. Lancaster has provided a much-needed fresh start. Wise made no adjustments with his new lefty. None were necessary.
“He basically just left me alone said, ‘You’re going to start, so go pitch well,’” Parker said. “I felt like if I could work through some situations, I could get that confidence and that swagger back.”
*It’ll be shocking if Parker doesn’t earn another shot in affiliated ball.
*Russ Cleveland broke out of his 6-for-46 slump with a two-run double that opened the scoring in the fourth inning.
*Steve Van Note, who was 7-for-51 in August, belted a two-run homer in the sixth. It was his seventh home run, but just his second since July 2.
*The bullpen was great. Again. Ryan Harris and Ross Peeples combined to toss 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Considering their recent workload, that’s impressive.
“We’re struggling because of the way the schedule was set up and the weather conspired against us to give us those doubleheaders,” Wise said. “Guys are really sucking it up right now. They’re doing a great job and I really respect them for that.”
*The Barnstormers are five games behind first-place Somerset. They lead the Community Cup series 9-8 with one game to play.
“I feel like we’re better than York and Somerset,” Parker said. “It’s just a matter of putting it together every day.”
“We’re running out of games,” Wise said. “We’re running out of time. But if we keep playing like we are right now, we’ll be in the thick of it.”

I thought Depriest got a save for yesterdays game…at League stats he still only has 16 and the box score didn’t list it.
DePriest has been given the save belatedly. That is a tough one to pick up since the lead was 8-3 when he came in, but he qualified on the “tying run on deck” criterion. It has been corrected, and the save now appears on the howesportsdata link.
stormin I will be in section 17
ok thanks Dave.
I will be in section 25, third row.
Pitching change: Wayne Franklin replaces David Maust, who was pushed back to Tuesday.
Thanks for putting Patterson’s award up for all to see. He really deserves… like you said a promotion, and skip the triple A thing. A trip to NY would be a nice bonus
Jason.. The Astros just fired their GM (also fired their Manager) so maybe Adam Gladstone can get some help. The problem with that is that they both suck at their jobs and BASA would really be in trouble. I had to talk to him (the GM) once when he was director of player development (I usually did not have to talk to a guy that high up) and he seemed like a nice guy but he just could not get the job done as a GM. He had no clue as a GM. He was over his head. Now that I think about it, maybe he can help BASA out. It can’t be any worst than what it is now. I’ll take one guy for 2 team then one guy for 4 teams. Like I said, it can’t be any worst.
Ooo…Parker. Another chance to see if he’s really this good or if it’s a fluke.
Oh yeah…it was WAY humid where we were yesterday with no air movement whatsoever. Toward the end of the game the humidity lifted and it wasn’t so bad. But that was all we could get, nevermind all the empty seats you Could SEE WITH YOUR….ahem…own eyes, so that’s where we sat. Not that I’m bitter or anything…
Nice avatar, RS…
Thanks Mikie
You gonna see him tonight???
Dave..I’m gonna listen to 910 a little bit ..just want to know what they think of our players as they introduce them Lol. Then will switch back.

It was officially scored a steal for Burkhart. It was a wild pitch and when the pitcher tried to get Crozier out at second, Burkhart came home from third. Strange play.
Way to go Zack!!! you are doing a great job tonight!!!!

I guess only you season ticket holders are invited … I’ll be in Dddooork with some champagne
Heh…sounds like the umps are sucking in Lancaster’s favor, for a change. Hey York, welcome to our world!
Ditto, Mark
Great Job Guys!!!! No I will be listening on the radio again, won’t be in York or at the picnic, have fun all
I’ll catch up with you Wednesday dopey
I’ll run by Dave and screem real LOUD
see ya wednesday Rad!!!
what a game. good pitching, good defense, and good offense. also, 3 york ejections. it is nice to see the boys in blue blow calls for someone else but us. aa, you strategy is working, one game at a time. we finish it tomorrow. same time, same section, same sear, different jersey. murray was wearing 36 tonight. i guess #19 has been benched. good call glenn.
By the way, Somerset lost. I don’t know about you guys, but with 6 still to play against them, I am not giving up till this thing is over.
Are we organizing a “Boo Reggie” chorus for any of the games this week?
Pats lose, 3-2 in 12, so y’all are getting a bit closer…
Those blown calls WERE both blown calls by the umpires. The fist one Singleton was safe…and the second one Taveras was also safe…JTodds foot was off the bag! glad to see it go our way both times…but….they blew both calls. Stormin…did you see the York fan in the front row toss his beer (or whatever refreshment he had sitting on the wall) towards the field? A couple ushers or someone came down the aisle and “talked” to him….the guy got pretty irate and was yelling at the umpire too. Funny actually!
You know …
Seven against the Road Warriors. Six against Somerset. Five games out. If the Barnstormers can win Tuesday, it’s not impossible.
Clearly NOT impossible!!!
Jason just showed some optimism. Well, I might as well buy my lottery ticket now, because the world is apparently ending.
Hi Rad,
There is no internet connection in York. Thanks for the shoutout.
I won’t be at Tues. game, but will be back on Wed. in Lanc.
I will be taking my optomist pills.
We still have a chance!!!!
Go Stormers!!!!!!
Had a nice time in Dork. However, I was surprised on how much more work still needs to be done there. Sat in 11 and then moved to 25 (I think – very end section)for a different viiew. Seems so much smaller that the Clip.
Yes, I’m a pessimist by nature. I can’t help it. It’s in a sports reporter’s DNA.
thats why most reporters are democrats.
PS. in case any one is up early this morning, go check out the moon at 5:53 am this morning. There is a lunar eclipse happening.
WOW, I thought I got on here early… Mornn Mr. B.
Did you see the curse of the Gochnhaur add strikes again. We all said last week that Brett would be gone.. and sure enough, boo hoo
Just a little Patterson update… .88
Yes that’s POINT 88
Jason, do you know what the lowest ERA on record is…with so many innings pitched?
Mornin Rad,
I got up to watch the eclipse with my son.
There seems to be all kinds of curses going on. It’s spooky! I take that back, we have just won a couple potential big games.
Have a great day!
b
I was up early, but did not see the eclipse
Why?
I was in the ER.
Fun.
#63. Right on Jason. I liked reading “Hangin’ Out With Adam Gladstone”. Guy should run for public office. Maybe him and Bob and can work on the whole BASA re-organization thing.
At lease it was not as bad as the Miss Teen contestant from South Carolina’s answer on “Why can’t 1/5th of Americans locate America on a map”.
Stormin… isn’t that hysterical? … she is THE dumbest blond. I’m sure she’ll make a good trophy wife someday.
Oh yea…new bloggin name… dumb-blonde
HA HA
Rad, wish i could ask you my question but not here
e-mail me
my first & last name @ comcast.net
… Olivia not Rad Ha Ha
make sure my name is one word and no capitals
thanks, watch for an email
ahh heck, you could have asked that here… AA and I always discuss that stuff here. LOL. Reply sent , your turn
For today.. drop off at my office and I’ll take them over
where’s your office? i know you ladies talk about that, i am just new to all of this, check your email
mail call
If anyone is going to the Batting Practice/Picnic/Q&A session tonight, I have a concern that you could pass on. It is communication between the front office and the fans/season ticket holders.
It seems that there has been a lack of it lately. On two occations I have found out information third party rather than called personally and put me in a awkward position. Thanks.
I will be at the York game with a broom to support the team and the “Run for the Cup”. Go Stormers.
Bring the Champagne Stormin… Yippeeeee
I’m not sure the single-season record for ERA. I don’t even know if a record like that could be verified because there are so many leagues over such a long period of time. John Boker, who pitched for the Barnstormers last season, had a 0.00 ERA in 33 2/3 innings in an indy league in 2004. That’s quite a feat.
Where is Mr. Boker these days?
wish i could be at the game to join in the party!!! oh well! go get’em stormers!!!! sweep the series!!!
I believe Boker is injured and did not pitch this season.
Thanks Jason, ..71.1 innings pitched and a .88 ERA… that’s GREAT !!!!!
I changed back to Travis in honor of his play during this series. We were in Section 25 and when he got up to bat, there were a lot of “Trader” calls coming from around us. Of course we got louder.
And Russ as the “Breadstick” player of the game, started off with a 2 RBI double, and sent the fans home with NO breadsticks. Way to go Russ.
Hey, I got bread sticks Sunday.. thanks to JT… and they were really good. maybe tonight… just once though
Dawes hope you are ok and feeling better. Sorry to hear of your ER trip.
Must be the Reggie Taylor saga got the best of Dawes.
Hope your OK… We’re all here for you
Some ideas inpired by post# 71 …..
Do you think whenReggie was seen in town the other week, that maybe he was filming the Gochnhaur add?
Do you think we can get Adam Gladstone to do the Gochnhaur add?
I forgot all about the curse Rad. Good point. Who’s next. What happens if they go back to the old “Year 1″ Jeremy Todd add.
Jeremy, “Just Say No”.
With Evert being released Monday, the Gochnauer curse has officially claimed another victim.
Any players, including Rick and Glen… just say “No”. Your right Mr. B… Adam Gladstone should be the next one to do the add
I’m feeling alright. I got a prescription for stuff, so I should be doing better soon.
No Jeremy no!!!
And ditto on the communication issue…I have encountered that more times that not this season Stormin..Its a good thing that I have friends in all sections of the ballpark that keep me in the loop and dont worry Stormin…I will bring it up when I talk to Cummings this homestand about the booster club…he got a hold of me by email and I am planning to meet with him soon!
For anyone interested…we (Rad and I) are in the process of forming a booster club. As soon as I meet with Cummings we will come up with a date and time for an informational meeting..hopefully at the stadium in Sept or Oct. Look for flyers to be posted or handed out at the stadium for the announcement of the time and place. We will be working on this during the offseason in order to have it in place for the start of the 2008 season. Kevin was very receptive to this idea and we need people to come and give us ideas. We will also be workng with booosterbabe from the Bridgeport booster club who has been very helpful as well. Any one with questions please…contact me on here and I will give you my email or Rads email to discuss them!
Rad..you have email!
AA… now you have mail …
ok…see you tonight!
Anyone coming to the York game tonight please bring a broom. We “SWEEP” York tonight and claim the cup.
Jason..I finally got a chance to read you Gladstone “interview”. Haha It was the best non interview I have ever read..haha. What I mean by that is…your questions were great….its just that Gladstone didnt answer them honestly! He kept blaming someone else for his failures.
I dont understand how he can actually make a comment about the shuffling guys from team to team not taking away from the competition. Besides that…those last few questions he seemed a bit put off by the questions that he was being asked. I also found it interesting on his comments about the future of BASA.!!
Glad there is a boosterclub forming i can help if you will need anyone else AA and Rad. I hope the next victim for Gochnauer is not one of “my favorites”.
I just heard who the lastest Gochnauer Ad candidate is. It is our very own, Bob the Alcoholic. Let’s give him a hand.
Sorry I can’t be in York tonight with all of you! Have a great time! Make sure all our favorite players know about the Gochenour curse! We are going to have to figure out a way to break the curse.
Dopey. the cookies are in the Clipp locker room for the boys to enjoy!!
Just as long as that gochnauers ad doesnt feature dave collins!!
As I said in #87 ……
Put Adam Gladstone in the next Gochnauers ad!
Thanks so much Rad, YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!
I HOPE THE BOYS ENJOY THEM!!!
Barney…thats the kind of talk I love to hear!! hahaha.
