VS LONG ISLAND DUCKS
Lance Davis (7-3, 5.13 ERA) vs.
Barry Armitage (2-1, 4.99 ERA)
Another day, another lefty on the mound against the Barnstormers. This is the 11th lefthander Lancaster has faced in the past 12 games, which borders on preposterous. The Barnstormers counter with Armitage, a reliever making his second start. This was originally Rob Henkel’s turn, but his start was pushed back because of shoulder issues.
Pre-game notes:
– Reggie Taylor on his career prospects and playing for Long Island …
“I’m still a little angry because of what I did last year and I still didn’t get into organized ball,”
he said. “Guys left this league left and right and some got to the big leagues. I still have a little chip on my shoulder. I feel like Long Island will give me the best exposure, to be honest with you. A lot of guys left there already and went to organized ball.”
– Taylor on playing in Lancaster in 2006 …
“It’s probably the best time I’ve had playing ball,” he said. “The fans treated me nice. We had a good group of guys and we won a championship at the end. That’s all you can ask.”
This was about a 10-minute interview. Maybe I’ll put some of the highlights on the site at a later date.
Lineups:
DUCKS (28-17): Reggie Taylor, CF; Ray Navarrete, 2B; Bryant Nelson, 3B; Pete Rose, Jr., 1B; Edgardo Alfonzo, SS; Norm Hutchins, RF; Rob Cafiero, DH; Estee Harris, LF; Jared Price, C.
STORMERS (21-23): Mike Woods, 2B; Danny Gonzalez, SS; Jutt Hileman, CF; Dominick Ambrosini, LF; Lance Burkhart, C; Jeremy Todd, 1B; Dionys Cesar, 3B; Steve Van Note, DH; Eric Crozier, RF.
Scoring summary:

Stormers 7th: Todd hits solo home run. Martinez’s double scores Cesar. Woods’ home run scores Martinez.
Barnstormers lead 5-3.
Ducks 8th: Rose hits solo home run.
Barnstormers lead 5-4.
RECORD: 22-23 (51-57)
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Reggie … No, Mike Woods (2-for-4, including a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning).
SOME HIGHLIGHTS: Woods has turned it on. The second baseman is hitting .355 with six homers and 25 runs scored in 24 games this month. He has emerged as an elite leadoff hitter and is a big reason the Barnstormers are close to .500 in the second half.
“Woody has been a real catalyst for this ballclub,” interim manager Rick Wise said. “He has been outstanding, not only offensively but defensively he has picked up his game, too. .. He’s been huge for us. No doubt about it.”
*Woods could be the Barnstormers player who draws the most interest from affiliated clubs in the offseason. He has terrific tools and has the status as the 32nd overall pick in the 2001 draft. He suffered through injuries during his five-year career in the Detroit Tigers’ system. It’s not too late for him to get another chance.
“Hopefully, I can show organizations that I can endure a whole season, contribute and be a factor,” Woods said.
*Dionys Cesar made an impact. The third baseman went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and belted his first homer in 101 Atlantic League at-bats.
*Reggie Taylor went 4-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored. He also made a running over-the-shoulder catch that saved two runs in the sixth inning. Yep, he’s still one of the best players in the league.
*Dominick Ambrosini made a running catch in the ninth inning that robbed Estee Harris of a possible triple and kept the tying run off base with no outs.
*Derrick DePriest worked a scoreless ninth for his 18th save. The only blemish against him was a single by Taylor.
*The Barnstormers moved back within five games of Somerset. They’re hanging by a thread. With the Road Warriors coming to town this weekend, the defending champs would like to trim another game off the lead before playing six games against Somerset next month.

With Barry starting again..all that remains to know is how many we lose by. The only way we can win tonight I feel is in a real slug fest. So we better have our hitting shoes on lol.
thats positive thinking!
I been reading what Reggie is saying about this situation and, I understand where he is coming from if what he is saying is true and not just giving us some BS for us to forget about it. I still think he should of kept his word but I understand. He will have a better shot of being seen for spring training next year playing in the playoffs with the Ducks than here. You have the extra games and the Ducks are cover in the national media more than the other teams. The only problem is then why play in Mexico for the whole year. The money is better in Mexico but you have a better shot being picked up by an affiliated team in this league than Mexico. It was just a big mess all away around. He should not have open his mouth until he know for sure where he wanted to play. The Barnstormers should never of posted that he was coming until the contract was signed. The Duck step over the line and really look bad for this.
Does he really think he has a shot at some type of exposure in the short time left in this season ? … not unless he is batting 450
rad.. I agree and that is why it puzzles me that he spend the whole season in Mexico. Mexico is good ball and the pay is good but you just don’t get picked up to affiliated teams very much at all. He had a better shot in the States. Now I understand his thinking if he still wants to play some more this season with the hope someone will see him for next year. I don’t see anyone else getting picked up for this season with the minor leagues almost done for the year. Like I said before, I understand his thinking but I feel it may be BS and he was just going for the money (he plays for a little bit longer because of the playoffs and makes a little bit more money).
Taylor said he plans to return to Mexico for winter ball in October. I think he’s also eyeing Korea or even Japan if a good offer presents itself.
Scott Patterson called up to Triple-A. It’s about time…
Slow night, sounds like a decent pitchers duel. This is a typicalLance Davis game. Throw strikes, let them hit it,and he will give up a few dingers as well.
what a game. mirror image of last night.
Go Stormers!
Bluefish are losing 6-2 to the Road Warriors…..
Berger is pitching….woudl have enjoyed seeing that.
And Hoorelbeke FINALLY got his 29th HR of the season, and I MISSED IT!
Just couldn’t get myself out of the house tonight once I got home.
He just struck out though. Boooooo
and the Sox got swept by the Yuckies this week.
Konw what? I couldn’t bear to go down to the ballpark tonight…and Sat night, when they are in York…..I’ll be bummed out because I there’s no reason to go to the ballpark! Oh the irony!
Stormin, I hear you caught a football tonight, hmmm sounds like someone on F/P likes you. WOW, what a day, first the Patterson call [what took the Yanks so dam long] and, now we beat L.I.
DePriest … came through when we really needed him… he owes Dominick a beer, Nice catch on a flyball that looked like a HR {from my angle}.
Boosterbabe come on down to Lancaster.. lots of good ball being played here and we can chat booster club.
and Derrick.. I mean that as a true complement.. you did great!
oops,,, told ja I can’t spell Ha Ha . Jason, you really need to get a spell checker on this thingie.
Looks like Cesar had a solid game tonight. Also looks like the Ducks lineup from six through nine doesn’t scare anybody. Great top half, sketchy bottom half. Their pitching is going to need to carry them in the playoffs.
Funny thing about Cesar, I just mentioned to the gentleman behind me that “I am not real impressed with him” and what does Cesar do??? Hit a Homer !!!
So, I guess he just needed a little time to adjust to life in Lancaster
Now I can see why the Ducks pursued Taylor. Losing Offerman and Everett really hurts.
I believe that Traitor and Gonzalez must have pissed some one big off when they were with affliated ball. Both players have put up decent numbers to get a decent call up but neither was has gotten that call (except that single A that Danny got).
Hey AA, wanted to let you know i was the one who tooted my horn at you guys and patti yelled Amy!! So i can’t keep quite
Tom,
If you are out there…
Any idea what pictures you wanted?
-Dawes
That was Derrick the “Pro” finishing it for us. Is the ERA under 1. If so, he needs to be looked at.
Some people on the Fun Patrol have an arm. From the field to almost the back row. Tell her thanks for the toss. Tomorrow it will have a Lira autograph on it.
The team battled back. York helped us with a win. One game at a time, right AA.
Did anyone notice the “new” player on the team? Ross Peeples cut his hair short and pulled his pant legs down. Hope the new look works oot for him. My wife freeked when she thought someone else was wearing #23.
Everett’s gone from the Ducks? Was it a family situation or that he was tired of the AL and no one was noticing him? I have heard both stories.
Jason,
Will Lira start any of the 4 games fri – sun?
Same question, except insert Parker…I need to take pictures of those 2 guys.
Yea, Doesn’t she have an amazing arm??? Takes after her mom
.. she said “nice catch” on your part.
Guess it will take some time to get used to the new Ross look… but not too long !!
I for one miss that flowing head of hair
Hey stormin… was that a “professional” game tonight or just some legion ball?
A win! I thought Armitage did pretty well. All the pitchers did pretty well tonight, I thought. Shame Rose got that lucky shot off Brock right away but at least it was solo.
I am SO sick of PJ and the stupid arm swing thing he does.
Jason, what DID happen to Everett?? Was his ego getting too big for the clubhouse??? That is a real shame that Long Island is losing its ex-Major Leaguers. I feel real bad. Sorry, chuckerd.
PTW—-Good luck with the California Golden Bears this weekend. Go Gators!!!
Stormin, how has life changed for you now that you have a had a moment in the radio “sun?” Are you signing more autographs now than before?? Going incognito to the grocery store now to get away from the mob of fans??? I am sorry I missed your interview.
Yeah Stormin…I knew your wife would freak about Peeples!!! thats funny!
Oh and Derrick…nice save AGAIN! hope you are feeling better soon!
Rad…”the child” did a great job with the slingshot AND throwing the footballs..I was on the side where STormin was and was watching! Nice Arm! (Can she pitch too…the bullpen could use the rest! haha) And please thank James for the baseball for the hubby! He can expect more “goodies”!!
Yeah Stormin…please do answer Rads question about professional ball!
PJ cracks me up. He runs like the back end of my dog…that sort of knock-kneed waddle thing he does. Good hitter tho.
Hmmm…….Stormin….I will need to get you and Ed into my autograph collection…..do you personalize or do i need to pay extra for that? How about inscriptions and things like that.? I imagine that very soon you will be in even more demand..if you know what I am speaking of….just remember we will always still remember you when you were ONLY a blogger! Now you are a celebrity of sorts!!
Yeah for a guy who has been around awhile he can still hit! didnt I hear Dave say that this is his 19th season?
Well, Rad, if I come to Lancaster, I’ll have to bring my brownies so we can compare! LOL Did I tell you I entered them in the town’s agricultural fair (the town where I work, not Bridgeport) and they won first prize in the brownie category!?
I couldn’t believe it.
I would love to send some brownies with nuts down to York somehow for Monday (Beech’s next start) but there’s no way to get them there. Unless someone there wants to make some and send em back to the Bluefish Clubhouse. Wait a sec, don’t you guys need Bridgeport to sweep York this weekend???? hint hint hint Matt Beech pitches better when he knows there are fudge brownies with walnuts waiting for him in the clubhouse…..LOL
Your Funny
Upside of tonight was walking out with an autographed all star bat. Downside of tonight was only having 5 home games left this year. Which reminds me:
DAVE COLLINS: Make sure the internet feed is working next week! Don’t leave me hanging like the last time I was in Europe and all I got were commercials.
pack,
I was told Everett left for personal reasons and there’s a chance he’ll return. I don’t know how good of a chance.
Dawes,
The pitching matchups haven’t been announced for the RW series. If the rotation holds, it should be Parker Saturday and Lira Monday.
AHHHHHH,Come on guy’s,leave P.J. alone,he may look awkward, but he busts his butt every game and he’s having a great season. Good game tonight, and under 3 hours.Very managable.
Dawes,
THe one I’d really like is Rick Wise.
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks Jason. Hope everything works out for Everett. Hope he makes back for Long Island. BUT I hope Newark beats Long Island in the playoffs.
okay chuckerd..who is your favorite Duck???? who works the hardest???
Stormin Sighting????
Were you wearing a red #20 jersey and your wife a grey jersey tonight? I want to make sure it the real Stormin and not an imposter. If so I’ll look you up on Sunday and introduce myself. I love your “one game at a time” approach. That’s what the Phils did and now only 2 back!
That was Mike Woods’ Mom playing the hat shuffle in the 9th. I was sitting near her when her son hit his HR tonight and she went nuts (like the rest of us). She was also at last night’s game so maybe Mike needs to keep her around the way he’s swinging the bat!
LETS GO STORMERS!!!!!!
AA, I will make you a copy of the picture when I make one for Ed. I will have him autograph your copy when I drop his off to him tomorrow. If things work out, I will have another neat thing to show you tomorrow.
Pack, the interview is only the beginning. I am looking into doing promo visits and I hear the may be a Gochnauer Ad commercial in the works.
On a humorous note. I was joking with Adam tonight about his ads and suggested since every person he has done it with (except for the first year ones, Todd & Hake) has left the team, I asked if he would do one with Adam Gladstone. We could only hope.
Answer to 41 …. Who works the hardest?
Offerman’s attorney! LOL
What up packmule,my favorite Duck, probably Rose,i admit it. Hardest worker,I don’t really know, maybe Jared Price.
way to go kaz tanaka triple and 3 rbis way to get the revs back on track
I will be at the york stadium the next two days see whoever there later congrats on the success of late
Barney, I was wearing a red alternate #29 and my wife was wearing a road gray #23. Both players still with the team thank God. (no Gochnauer ads please)
I cannot take credit for the one game at a time. That was AA’s idea since I was always talking about the sweeps. Her suggestion is working.
Thanks York. I was actually cheering for them to win tonight and again tomorrow night.
Good One Barney.#44.
thanks for the photo Stormin…I appreciate the help on that! Ed’s a great guy i know he will take all this ribbing in the spirit it is intended..haha.
Yep Barney…it was me that suggested to Stormin…that expecting and mentioning a sweep is pretty hard to do…but playing them one game at a time is more reasonable! Pretty much so far so good!
Alright,rubber game tommorow night,goodnight peeps.
Mark,
It should be all set. We have even learned what to do if the digital sets don’t “talk” right away like they are supposed to. I can’t do anything, though, if the station (or phone relay nearby) gets hit by lightning like last Saturday and we have to feed through the backup studio.
Tom, is a 5×7 ok?
Stormin–interviews, promo visits, tv commercials….WOW!!! You will be so big that the Barnstormers will have to have a “Night with Stormin”…a night even bigger than night with the Philly ball girls, who knows.
And I think you got Tom hooked on those optimism pills. He keeps mentioning them on the radio.
I have to check and see if Jason has any left, he may need resupplied.
Sorry Pack, I don’t look good in short shorts.
Stormin’…..so if someone’s ERA is not under 1, they shouldn’t be looked at??? I’ll bring you a shovel tomorrow, to help you with that hole your digging.
Thanks Amy!
Radical…you should have married an opthamologist, not a dentist…you can help Stormin with his hole tomorrow
What are you doing watching in the 9th anyways?
Hiya Dave….I’m just kidding, I know you do your best. If it happens, it happens and I get to bed before midnight.
KS, I think he should of been looked at a long time ago. He has set the team record with saves at (is it 18 now). The pro is the “real deal”.
I guess my hole is going to cost me (2) pecan pies.
Re: #45
He gets a bad rap because of his name, but P.J. couldn’t be a nicer guy…
Stormin – I believe the sighting is confirmed. Since you were sitting down the 2nd number wasn’t completly visibile. Won’t be there tonight (High School Football starts) or tomorrow, so I will wander over there on Sunday and introduce myself.
AA – Sorry I didn’t give you credit for the one at a time line. It’s the winning that counts!
GO STORMERS!!!!!!!
Dawes,
5X7 is okay, but if you can make an 8X10 it would be better, but it really dosen’t matter.
Thanks,
Tom
Great game last evening, guys. Rad I believe you mentioned something to me and mom also about Cesar and I answered by saying he went 0-4 in the first game… Nice Homer!
Man, did the crowd get lit up around the 7th inning or what!? That’s what I’m talking about. We had several very boisterous fellows in the “Crazy 8’s” last night and another guy in Section 7 adding to the “Reggie Traitor” catcalling… It was exciting to say the least.
“Hey Reggie, you looked better in red and white!”
“Reggie, you bum!”
I was a little disappointed the night before that the fans didn’t join in a little more with the “harassing” aspect that us baseball fans are so famous for. LOL.
Michael is on fire! 4/5 the first game and 2/4 last night with major blast.
I was yelling at the guys to buckle down and hit the fast ball that was being thrown at them. Several of our lefties, except for Jeremy, were struggling with that lefty. However, our right handed batters just hammered him in the 7th. Heck, all he was throwing was straight on fast balls b/w 84 and 88 mph. BATTING PRACTICE!
Josh Stevens is a really great fans’ player. Last evening mom caught one of the FedEx footballs and gave it to a little guy sitting behind us. This little boy was one of the youngest cochlear implants. He was starting pre-school next week. He had the surgery at age 1.
Well, I called to Josh and then walked up to the dugout roof to talk with him. I told him about the child and asked f he could get a ball for him.
His father had told me that they had been to the Phillies’ game together that day and this was their double header.
Real baseball fans!
Josh returned and threw the ball to me and I had the total pleasure of seeing that little boy’s eyes light up when I handed it to him.
Thanks Josh Stevens for making that kids day. His dad told me he’s been going to Phillies’ games for years and never once got a ball. I am sure that family is going to be Barnstormer Fans for Life.
dad
No problem Barney…its all good. A win is what wee need so however we get it done..haha. Oh and what is FOOTBALL?
Hey Kaiser
What would you like me to bake … to get out of this whole I’m sittin in?
I figured it out last night when I got home….”football” is what the networks put on tv when their news divisions need something to divert the public from Iraq, like convictions for dogfighting, beating up a girlfriend or shooting someone.
Not that I really dislike football or anything…
Thanks for the info Mark. I have no clue about this football thing…at least until the baseball season is over..haha.
Can’t make the game tonight. Too bad since I really wanted to go on Ladies’ Night. Dawes, I am interested in a picture of Parker if you get one this weekend. None of the picutres I took so far are that great. I’m still trying to figure out this new camera. I’ll be at the game Saturday for sure though.
To clarify the football question, I won’t be at the game tonight because of a High School Football game. This is something you support when your kids, neighbors, friends kids or other family members play. Remember it’s all about supporting the kids no matter what they are involved in (football, baseball, ballet, etc). You probably know how much of a Phillies fan I am by some of my comments. I actually missed the the end of the 1993 series (remember Joe Carter) because of a family commitment.
Ahhh, I love high school football.
Both kids are scheduled to work and one of them had a FIT when he realized he is working tonight. So Stormer players get the game over early so he can attend the 5th quarter party after.
I can’t wait to get to some games,
Go L-S Pioneers !!!!!!
Ulitmate, Ryan Harris’ host family has a really great, new camera, give it a look-see next time you make it to a game… I’ll help you find them
Thanks Rad! I think the problem is me and not the camera! Maybe they can give me some helpful hints. See you on Saturday night?
Oh, so football is the filler they put around the time when the marching band plays on the field!
I love it when football player parents hmph and turn up their noses when I mention that my son is in marching band. Football practice gets called on account of bad weather but not marching band. They march in the pouring rain, driving snow, high wind, whatever. If they can get to the field, they march. Bands go to competitions and play at other functions in addition to football games but it rarely, if ever, works the other way around.
Stormin.. I finally got back to your e-mail… yes
Rad…now thats the nicest avatar yet!
Yes Ulitmate I should be there.
Awwwe AA isn’t he the best. He sent this during spring training. It’s really a full shot… I’ll print it and bring it tonight.
Aa… I sent it over to you
There is nothing wrong with going to a high school football game. First, I spent a lot of my life in Texas and there is nothing bigger than a high school football game. Except for when I was playing baseball, I always try to make it out to a game. Then when I went into scouting, I would have to watch a lot of high school baseball games. Between those two sports, I become a big fan of high school sports and usually will catch some games of different sports though out the year. I usually will be at a high school game every friday night. Baseball for the other 6 days
. I will be at a football game tonight. Just not sure which game to go to. I am leaning for the Solanco/Penn Manor game but may go see Cocalico/Lampeter-Strasburg or Hempfield/Conestoga Valley game. Like I said before, unless I was playing, I always went to a game (I usually would miss the first 3 or 4 weeks of the season because of baseball) and really had a good timeat the games. High School sports is pure and I always like to support the local kids.
Ok Rad…thanks….
Mark – Like I said as parents we support whatever our kids get into. I enjoy the bands as much as the games. The kids put a lot of time into these things. Believe me, they will always remember that you were there. My son remembers me driving for 10 hrs to get home from a trip in time to see him play volleyball. I tell him that it didn’t matter if he was in the ballet, I still would have made the trip. They grow up to fast so enjoy them and their activities as much as you can. Your son is lucky to have a Dad that supports him the way you do!
Was at the game 108. Reggie Taylor played an outstanding game. He made one unbelievable catch with his back to home plate in deep center field. He glides to balls many outfielders never reach.
I was frustrated and a bit angry when he chose to play for Long Island, but I after reading his comment — “I’m still a little angry because of what I did last year and I still didn’t get into organized ball.” Guys left this league left and right and some got to the big leagues. I still have a little chip on my shoulder. I feel like Long Island will give me the best exposure, to be honest with you. A lot of guys left there already and went to organized ball.” — I feel differently.
I enjoyed watching Reggie play last year. I wish him the best. He deserves another shot with an affiliated ball club. I just hope he doesn’t have another night like last night on Friday!
PTW – I’ll be at the CV game
Barney.. I may be there. I still am leaning on the Solanco/PM game. The CV game will be a good game but I try to see all the teams at least once and I always go see Hempfield/Township and CV/M. Central games. Also, the game is close to where I live so that is why I am leaning on Solanco/PM game tonight. May decided to go to the better game anyway and see the CV game? Which team are you going to watch (more interest in)?
CV but it should be a down year
I had the pleasure of marching in our beloved high school band at JP McCaskey in the late 60’s and early 70’s. In fact, in my senior year, Donald Trostle named me #11 in the band. What an honor. That is the marcher who is placed in the first row, first position. Everyone else marches off of #11… I counted out rhythms and directed the band to “swing” their instruments, etc… cool position to have, especially when the band is marching in a parade.
There’s a lot of pride among the members of a marching band like we had at JP McCaskey in those years. Oh, yea!
I played trombone… dropped it during college and then picked it up and played with the “Sound of Roses” a few years after graduating from college. That band was dedicated to the Big Band Era. We played at the governor’s ball at the Milton Hershey School in the Rotunda.
While in the JP McCaskey marching band, we marched in the governor’s inaugural parade for Shapp. It was colder than heck and I remember having to put glycerin on my tombone slide to keep it from freezing.
The poor girls in the flags, majorettes, and color guard in those short shirts were freezing. Some had to be placed in vehicles that were following the procession. Some rugged stuff… We had cross the one bridge spanning the Susquehanna River. That was truly brutal, fer shure!
Nothing but respect for the dedication these kids put into any extra-curricular activity. Band members train longer and harder than any other individual group in the high school. Plus, band at Penn Manor is a graded and credited subject.
Could you imagine if high school athletic sports were graded.
Go ‘Stormers!
dad
My wife works over in that area (Lancaster Labs). Many times I would meet her over there and we get something to eat then go to the game at CV. I lived over that way for a couple of years and now live close to Millersville. If I don’t meet you at a Barnstormer’s game sometime then I will let you know the next time I am at a CV game and say hi. I have yet to meet anyone from this blog except for the 30 second talk I had with Jason at a basketball game last year (told you I go to a few high school events
).
dadtb.. I did get a grade and credit for baseball when I was in high school. I went to high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We had a baseball class that was open for baseball players (junior and senior). It went as one of our non-core credits that we had to have. You could take it two years and get 2 credits. It was great getting credit for playing baseball when others were in the classroom. The football team, both girls and boys basketball teams, Wrestling, and one other sport (I am drawing a blank but I think it was soccer) also had a class like this.
Also, when I was in high school, I had to go to a lot of the band events because I had a girlfriend that was in flags. I am a big fan of the band. I enjoy them also.
The bands up here though are different than in Texas or New Mexico. They are much, much bigger and they would do a lot more during the game then up here. The bands are good up here just different. I also would love it when I go see a high school game that had all blacks at their school because I love their bands also. They were different than most of the school down there also. If you even seen the battle of the bands (When Grambling St and Southern play in football), that is what I am talking about when I said about watching a high school that is made up of all blacks. I really enjoys watching those types of bands also. The best band last year during a football game was E-town. Not sure if they always that good but they were good the night I saw them.
TGB,
Welcome to the site. I hope you keep posting.
PTW – Will you be at Sunday’s game?
play to win… See, I like that athletes could take courses to satisfy phys. ed. requirements. Our state system requires two P.Ed. courses in four years of highs school.
A lot of coaches today are not college degreed educators. That may need to be looked at if a Pennsylvania high school would offer their athletic programs as credited courses that meet our state mandated requirements for graduation.
I like what they do in New Mexico. Makes a lot of sense to me and may even put more emphasis on the importance of the individual in a particular sport. For example, some players get lost in the “crowd”. A coach would not be able to allow that to happen under such a system that requires them to have a curriculum associated with the playing of their sport. I like it.
Thanks for sharing ptw. It just goes to show us that it is possible.
Go ‘Stormers
dad
I may.. Wife has to go in to work for a few hours on Sunday so it has not been talk about. I may go to the games by myself or may just pass on it. I will know for sure tomorrow. I need to get to a game. The last game I was at was the 8th for me. With all the road games and then being out of town for a few days there has not been a lot of chances for me to get to a game. I can let you know tomorrow.
Also dadTB, what made it good was if one of us were having trouble with another class then we could use the period for get help (like a study hall). We would not be in the weight room or on the ball field but it would help to keep our grades up for we could play. Coaches knew more what was going on with his players and it gave everyone a chance to get better.
Also, that was something that I saw up here. Many high school coaches don’t have college degree in Pennsylvania. In Texas, all head coaches at a public school have to have a college degree and in New Mexico it was up to the school district, and the one I was in, coaches needed the college degree. I thought about coaching high school baseball but never was able to when I was in Texas. It has cross my mine to look into coaching up here but I think I am going to work more with setting up a Select team for the area (someone else is also trying to get one together up here called the Barnstomers jrs or something like that).
dadTB
I too played in the McCaskey band in the late 60’s and had Trostle as director.
Those were the days. When did you graduate?
I did in 69.
Stop by the booth on Sunday if you’re there.
Tom
GO STORMERS!!!!!
I graduated in 1972… You most likely know my brother, Denny, who played the baritone for Trostle.
We sold the Sunday tickets… may be there on Labor Day, though.
Oh, yea… Denny either graduated in 1968 or 1969.( Me thinks) He played ball for PR Herr and was the second baseman for the team.
