The Atlantic League umpires aren't that bad. If a pitcher can't throw strikes . . . what's an umpire to do? He has to call the pitch a ball. DUH

I don't know on the Terry Pendleton point. Jim Leyland pretty much surrounded himself with his boys on his Tigers coaching staff, and that seemed to work out pretty well for him.

I would love to see Ryan get the job, but for some reason, I see him fitting in better with Southern Maryland or staying in York. Minor was a alot of fun to watch in 05 and also did a great job in his first coaching position with the Road Warriors in 2006.

S-central - I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say *every* guy. certainly the former major-leaguers have a chip on their shoulder and want to prove they still have it. But theres a good number of players who are resigned to the fact that they won't get a call up but are not ready to hang up the cleats yet.

No way, Jason. No way. Terry would never take on a polarizng guy like Tom. Terry would know he needs to surround himself with experienced guys.

Something to keep an eye on: Terry Pendleton is going to be in the running for some managerial vacancies, perhaps with the Cardinals if/when Tony La Russa leaves. Herr could be considered for Pendleton's staff as a bench coach or base coach.

Hmm, every player wants to be a year to year guy, or a month to month guy. NO ONE WANTS TO BE IN THE ATLANTIC LEAGUE.

Tommy Herr is the guy and he will make 64K with incredible incentives for public appearances, ticket sales, and wins. Tom is a VERY smart guy.

Stormin - I'm not hating Tommy Herr or wish him ill-will. I him on out bench and wouldn't be disappointed if he came back. But it's obvious he'd be here on a year by year basis - always looking for the proverbial greener grass on the other side of the fence.

Again - not hating him becuase he'd like a better position. Just wanting someone who would be interested in building a team and staying with it for the long term. Maybe because i fear change, more than anything else ;)
