Should be a fun year! The schedule changes should inject some juice into the shriveled attendance figures.
Just printed the schedule. There are not very many days off. I guess no one learned a lesson from last year.
Teams actually lose two home games with the 140 game schedule (considering the Road Warriors are now gone) so I’m not sure you’ll see significant increases across the board…obviously the league will set an overall record with the addition of Southern Maryland, but that’s probably it.
I am looking forward to this year!!!
Bye, Bye Road Warriors! Hello Crabs.
I always had a spot in my heart for the team w/o a stadium… “Times they are a changing.”
We got a new schedule. Now. let’s get ourselves a new coach!
Basically, they added 14 days to the schedule and 14 games. So it’s going to be a grind again for the players, especially if there’s weather like last season.
I’m not sure what alternatives they have. April 25 is about as early as you can start because you need to wait for affiliated players to get released and you don’t want the playoffs dragging into October. They could play a 126-game schedule over this time frame, but they don’t want to give up the home dates.
I haven’t had a chance to read the schedules. I hope they did away with the ending one series on a saturday, and starting a new series on sunday. Just my opinion, but that was to weird.
Yep it looks like they did that.
One thing I have noticed. There are alot of 4 game series next year.
It looks like a ok schedule. We have some good dates. I like to see them have a couple more days off later in the season. They only have 1 day off from July 29 to the end of the season. They needed to add a couple of other days off later in the season. I understand they did not have a lot of room with a 140 game schedule but this is how I would of done it to give them a few more days off. I first would of started April 24. They are going to draw good on Friday anyway so open that Thursday and you still get great numbers. That would free up to have a day off later in the season. Then I moved the April 28 day off for later in the season. They don’t need the day off after just 3 games. I then move the June 9 day off a week or two later. I know this is a little bit hard on the players but they will need the days off more later in the year. I take the July 7 day off and move it to later in the season. You have 4 day off just one week later so you don’t need that one day right then. That gives them 3 days off at the end of the season when they will need it the most.
I also see that every time they play at Long Island, they then go to Southern Maryland. That is a long bus ride. Other teams may have long trips also but I just looked at the Barnstormers schedule. I don’t have a problem with long trips but will be intresting how the players handle it.
