Patterson re-signs with Yankees
November 16, 2007 by Jason Guarente

After testing the minor-league free agent waters, Scott Patterson has decided to re-sign with the Yankees. The former Barnstormers closer has been placed on the team’s 40-man roster, which puts him that much closer to the big leagues.
Patterson went 4-2 with a 1.09 ERA in 74 1/3 innings with the Double-A Trenton Thunder last season. He played with the Barnstormers in 2005 and 2006. He also played in the Frontier League with the Gateway Grizzlies.

saweeeeet

Congrats to Scott!
WOW, go to Yankees.com and see Scottie’s name on the 40 man….
Congratulations Scott, all your hard work is paying off… finally
Be wonderful to see Scott Patterson make the big club. Having grown up near Buffalo NY, I was a Yankees fan (long before the Steinbrenner regime and its excesses — when teams rosters were consistent from year-to-year). My brother still is a loyal Yankees fan and we talk NY baseball when we get together. Heavens know the they could use some mid or late game relief help. Go Scott!
I guess I am now a Yankees fan like my daughter. Well, only when Scott pitches.
Venzeuela update
14.2 innings 0.00 ERA
Good job, Scott! Next time you’re in town and at a game, come sit in front of us again and keep us company.
0.00 ERA is unbelievable!
Last year, the Yanks were claiming that Scott needed to have that “third pitch.” My thoughts on this were… “He’s is on fire. Now is the time to utilize that success. It’s ludicrous to wait and sounds more and more like an excuse.”
The time is now. Get this great closer on the 40 man Yankee roster!
Sydney- Where did you find ERA stat on Scott Patterson? Webpage I found may have been in error, but it stated that he had lowered his ERA to 4.30 in 14 2/3 innings by pitching one hitless inning Nov. 16 after giving up 4 runs in his first inning of work in the Venezuela Winter League. This was reported on the MLB site for the Yankees in an article on minor league prospects.
The is posted on the Cardenales De Lara site… Minorleaguebaseball.com
I’ve been tracking him for a few weeks, and keeping and eye on the ERA.
9 hits no runs
Speaking of winter ball…
Danny Gonzalez is batting .233 with five homers and 12 RBI for league-leading Culiacan of the Mexican Pacific League. Two other former Barnstormers, Reggie Taylor and Giancarlo Alvarado are also with the club.
Thanks, Sydney. Enjoyed visiting minorleaguebaseball.com … Hadn’t spent much time there before. It has some very nice features that makes finding stats on teams/players easy to do.
They do indeed have Scott with a 0.00 ERA so folks on Barnstormin’ know stats I found were incorrect.
Revisited the site where I saw the other stats. I had found the page on Scott by doing a site search there. This time I noticed the article was dates December 1, 2006 … Believe that explains the discrepancy

Hi Dave…
long time no…. hear your voice
How is everything down in VA. ?
Thanks for the updates
Thank goodness you found it burnetttg,
I got a little nervous thinking I had it wrong, but then again I get the site right from the “horse’s mouth” so to speak… LOL
As A Yankee fan working w/ the Stormers I say You Go Scott! Do not pass go, head to the Bronx.
Congratualtions Scott, no doubt you will soon be traded for an aging, overpaid 1B/DH type the Yankees so like to accumulate.
Hey hey, let have only positive thoughts on this !!!!
Apparently, Scott has his own Web site. News to me. It’s here.
Looks like the site is very up to date with the info.
Way to got Scott and good luck!!!!!
Ok… I’m sorry to ask this but what is a WHIP and is a .64 good ???
WHIP is a pithers BB plus hits divided by the number of innings pitched. And a WHIP of 0.64 isn’t good, it is awesome. To compare with elite relief pithers Rivera’s WHIP in 2006 was 0.96 and Francisco Rodriquez was 1.10.
oh my… thanks.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw the words.. “isn’t good” but then read the rest… Thanks… His WHIP just went up to .85 CRAP !!!
Syd, don’t despair. I play a tremendous amount of fantasy baseball and look at a lot of baseball statistics every year. A major league pitcher who has a WHIP under 1.00 for a season is HOF calibre or has a very nasty out pitch. Based on the statistics of present major league pitchers, if Scott keeps that number under 1.10 he has a good shot at major league baseball.
Cool, Thanks Sidd
Congratulatons to the L-S football team… they beat Hershey tonight 17-7 !!!!
So much for THOSE SPORTS WRITERS PREDICTIONS !!! Jason….. HAH
Township lost in overtime 27-21. Better luck next year guys and congrats on a great season.
I was at Township-Mifflin. It was a game for the ages.
My Hubby is a Township Alum and his brother lives right by the Mifflin complex, he really wanted to go to that game instead of L-S.
I had to talk him out of it… L-S is our home team.. our kids go to school with the players. What can I say, L-S has heart, soul and a whole lot of go get’em
“ONE MORE”
I agree Jason, what a great game. Good back and forth, and to think Wertz, Sizemore, Bostick and Karpinski are only juniors and Yuko the back up QB is only a sophmore. I expect one more good season out of this bunch.
After three weeks off for the Holiday Patterson is back and doing great… duh

ERA 1.54 and a WHIP of .94
His team will begin playoffs Wednesday.
Happy New Year to all my bloggin buddies
