The Barnstormers plan to bring back seven or eight members of last season’s roster. Three of them were named today. They are C Lance Burkhart, OF Dominick Ambrosini and P Ross Peeples.

As you can tell from the dearth of updates, news has been scarce lately. Still only two players officially under contract, although several members of last year’s team are expected to eventually re-sign. The contracts are in the mail, so to speak.

The Barnstormers have brought back second baseman Mike Woods. He became the first position player to officially sign with the team today.
Woods, a former first-round draft pick by the Tigers in 2001, batted .294 with 11 homers and 41 RBIs in 100 games last season. He also stole 13 bases.

The Barnstormers’ offense needs to be improved. It needs a higher batting average, fewer strikeouts, better output with men on base and more speed and versatility.
How does the team accomplish those goals?
