Through four games, the Barnstormers’ offense has taken on the hot-and-cold identity that plagued last year’s team. In the two wins, they have 17 runs in 14 innings. In the two losses, two runs in 18 innings. That could be a product of the short spring training or the [...]

Mike Woods is an OF now. The speedy leadoff man opened spring training as the starting 2B, but it doesn’t appear he’s going to see much time at that position. Woods played LF for the first two games, and – with Danny Gonzalez at SS and John Nelson at 3B – [...]

If the Atlantic League transactions page is accurate, Dominick Ambrosini has signed with the Ducks. That didn’t take long.
Ambrosini played for Long Island in 2005 and 2006. He batted .300 with 21 homers and 103 RBIs in 172 games there. His time with the Ducks ended when he was traded to the Bluefish prior to [...]

With two days left until the season opener, the Barnstormers are still tinkering with their roster. They have agreed to terms with OF Jarred Ball and P Rob Averette.
Ball, 25, is a switch-hitting CF who was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the ninth round in 2001. He spent his entire career in the D’backs’ [...]

The Barnstormers have released OF Dominick Ambrosini, the team’s co-MVP last season, following a lackluster performance in spring training.
Ambrosini was 1-for-16 in the five exhibition games and was shaky defensively. He was dropped to 10th in the batting order before the fourth game and didn’t even start the fifth.
When manager Von Hayes warned that no [...]
