Another year for Burkhart
April 22, 2008 by Jason Guarente
Lance Burkhart is entering his fourth season with the Barnstormers and his 12th season overall. If last summer is an indication, he’s getting better with age. The 33-year-old batted .275 with 17 homers and 50 RBIs in 86 games. He led all Atlantic League catchers with a .903 OPS.
Burkhart has always been a team leader and plays a key role in helping the pitching staff. He’s destined to become a coach and, most likely, a manager in the not-so-distant future. But for the moment he still wants to play and he’s looking forward to another summer in Lancaster.

Jason…The interview with Burky was superb…video ..sound etc. was great…Thanks for adding video to the blog!
Lance may not feel the wear and tear but when I look at him in postition… my knees hurt !!!
Nice interview Jason.
Excellent job. Nice switching back from action to interview. WGAL better watch out. Maybe you can train Bosco to hold the camera, get some aerial shots, and you in the picture.
I didn’t have a tripod, so you’ll notice that Burkhart gets further into the corner of the frame as the video moves along. If the interview went 20 minutes, it would have just been sky and a voiceover.
Pretty cool! Did you edit it too?
Next stop… Sundance!
Seriously, you should start making a documentary on the team. Content is always malleable. If it gets dull, I’m sure you can find someone with a substance abuse problem on the team. If they win a championship it can be an inspirational piece. If you dig deep, fight resistance and it turns out that games are rigged… you got gold!
I just shoot the footage. Joel Lehman, the New Era’s web and video expert, takes it and edits it to look presentable.
Nice interview with Lance!!!
Lance is great. I have seats behind home plate an it is nice to watch him catch and take control of the game. It is always a different game when he is not catching. And that home run at York in the very first game was so awesome.
Great to have you back Lance.
Good job, Jason and Joel. Lance is a great guy and has served well as a leader on the team.
