If the 55 days in a row wasn’t enough of a scheduling mess, there’s this: Newark is back in town. The Bears are finishing off a stretch in which they play 10 games in Lancaster in the span of 35 days. They’ve only played 14 home games during that time.
Newark’s return could be a good omen for the Barnstormers. They’re 6-1 and have scored 10 runs a game against the Bears in the second half. The defending champs’ suspect pitching has combined with the hitter-friendly confines of the Clip to make the Barnstormers an offensive juggernaut for those brief stretches.
The lineup could use a spark. Monday night’s exciting come-from-behind win covered up the fact the Barnstormers didn’t even have a baserunner until the seventh inning. They were seven outs from having a perfect game pitched against them. Lancaster has scored 23 runs in the last seven games. As we’ve said a thousand times before, that’s not enough to win consistently in this league.
As for the team’s hopes of contending in the Freedom Division, this is the week to make a move. The Barnstormers have a home series against a team they’ve dominated this half followed by a three-game set at York. Should the deficit sit at four games (or more) when this week is over, you can pretty much put a period on the 2008 playoff push.
Newark is playing better lately. It’s 5-1 over its last six games and has moved into second place, three games out. This series against the Barnstormers will help determine who is the bigger threat to the first-place Revs. Time is already running short. There are only 27 days left in the season.

Time to put up or shut up.
Back to back to start the game. Has that ever happened for the Stormers before?
The coaching for this team is pathetic. Von Fazed does not have a clue on coaching a baseball team. At least he’s not letting another one run game get away tonite.
Strike One….in PlayOff Push week.
Holy crap, they’re still pla…well, whatever they do out there?
I love how people that never played or coach have become an expert on coaching. I was not a big fan of Von. There were a couple of people I would of pick before Von but he has done a hell of a job with what talent he has on this team. Don’t understand why so many on here hate Von.
Keith Lupton is the one needing to be attack on here. Not Von. Von has made mistakes but the best coaches or managers make mistakes. Coach K (Duke coach) had a hard time at first at Duke. I read how the fans wanted him out after a couple of years. They said he sucked and did not know how to coach. Well, people that know basketball kept saying keep him. He a very good coach. The university was patient and did not listen to fans and listen to basketball people and we all now know how it turn out. Coach K is one of the best college basketball coach around. Give him a break and look at what the true problem is. It is Lupton!!!
What does a Duke basketball coach have to do with Von Fazed? Can we look forward to VF being inducted into the Atlantic League HOF in the future? It’s pretty obvious he doesn’t know how to handle a pitching staff and he continues to jerk people around in the lineup and up and down the batting order. Consistancy and doing the right things with players is the cornerstone of any coaching staff. As long as Von Fazed (who I don’t hate) has been in baseball, coaching experience is not an excuse at this point of the season and he obviously doesn’t get it. A lot of people would love to have the players VF has had this year to put on the field. This team’s record and miserable play is not on Keith Lupton.
What experience do you have. You seem to know it all so why don’t you manage this team. Have you every been a baseball manager or coach. Have you ever play baseball. We all know that answer. Just about everyone on here including Jason has said how bad the talent but you make a statement that many people would love to have the players Von has had. I don’t know how to continue this without it looking like an attack so I am going to stop. I feel like I am getting drawn into a fight that you see little kids do.
I am done with this
Geez can’t we all play nice with each other? There’s no need to be nasty. Complain about the coach, the team, the players, the concession stand, ect., but please, please refrain from attacking other bloggers whatever their connection is or isn’t with the players and team or what you assume is or isn’t their connection or whatever their opinion is or isn’t. PLAY NICE BLOGGERS!
So when does football season start?????
We need a football team playing out of the Clip Joint so we can keep these spirited discussions going into the New Year.
So Jason, what is the news about next year??? Is Von coming back for a second year????
Way to go Pack. Go Sooners and go Cowboys, Dallas that is.
Go Steelers………See you on December 7th………in Pittsburgh.
It will be Pearl Harbor Day for your boys, Stormin’.
(just some good natured kidding, SIY)
Funny – they play the song ” Cruel Summer ” video during the game. Pretty much sums up the season.
We missed the Shea Hillenbrand show in York this year. (At least I did.) It sounded like some unprofessional occurences.
From the York blog….
“But while Hillenbrand offered his hitting expertise and gave York one of the purest swings the Atlantic League has ever seen, he’ll also be remembered for other things.
The way he dogged it on numerous groundouts. The time he barked at a fan who dared to boo him for his lack of hustle. And the occasion he left the Revs’ dugout with his gear in tow while York was trying to mount a rally in the late innings.
So here’s the bottom line for York — end this charade already. Cut Hillenbrand and squash this deranged marriage.
No player is bigger than the team.
It’s time Hillenbrand learned that.”

Hillenbrand supposedly has left the town of York since he pulled a hamstring and didnt tell his team if he would be back. Sounds like a class act. Glad we missed him.
One of the lovely things about Baseball is that just about every fan has played and followed Baseball just about all their life. We all know the Rules….we all know the stategy. It does NOT take a Professional Baseball person to be able to have an opinion about how a Game is Managed. I may not have technical knowledge how to fix a swing or throw a Slider….but surely know when to bunt and when NOT to bunt. When to hit and run and when not to. I’ve been around the game for 50 years. Just because I’m not a baseball exec…doesn’t mean I don’t or any Fan doesn’t know what they are talking about.
PTW…how do you know that Lucy has never played Ball?? Because she is a girl?? wow….isn’t it 2008?????
In just a few short weeks this will all be over and we will miss it. I know I will. I love to watch them play. Not like last night that hurt, Ouch.
But I sure hope we do alot better tonight.
Well put Booby.
This has gone way to far. We are all here for the same thing to cheer on the team. some people take things to heart. If we do not like Von oh well that is are opinon. If you do not like to president of the united states you are allowed to express that. This blog is to be able to express the way you feel. I just find it amazing that a few months ago people were attacting Lecory on here and he is now up for MVP. People need to grow up. Good lcuk to night guys.
I attend the games because I love baseball… ( a requirement to graduate H.S. in Florida, LOL) and I love the Stormers. This is MY team, YOUR team… OUR team. We may not agree with some choices made by the front office, the manager or the coaches but the team is US.. The uniforms have our town written across the front.
I refuse to be a fair weather fan.
Even when we are down 19-4. Ouch…. hurts to say that but.. that’s life..
Lets hope Newark got all thier hits in last night and the tank is EMPTY!!!
Mr Bass….(RC) don’t throw tonight.. I have to miss the game for some ” back to school” shopping with kiddo #2, but I will be listening.
And Booby.. I, for some unknown reason married a man who really doesn’t like baseball. I dragged him to the Clipp once last year when our “host player” pitched. And last week we went to Allentown to see the Yanks play a great game against the Pigs. My husband is a baseball widower!
I love this game of Baseball! HOO! RAH!
