Here’s 4 votes for Minor
Give the guy a chance to redeem himself. Even Tom Terrific got a pass the first year.
I think the Barnstormers should want to know the whereabouts of Krenchicki and Foucault at all times.
I’m a Krenchicki fan. I think he’d be a good hire for any indy ball team. It’s interesting that the managers who won the 2006 and 2007 championships in this league are currently unemployed.
He has a history of winning in this league and the improvement in the Bears in 2007 was dramatic. BTW since your a fan, his Rivershark Bobblehead is for sale on Overstock.com for $11.99.
You know me, I’ve beeing saying Ryan Minor is my first choice since last year
I knew Von personally when he managed the Midland, Tx AA for Oakland-he’s a winner, works hard and does not tolerate slackers on his team. He’s very knowledgeable and puts that knowledge to good use.
Stock wiht him, you won’t be sorry. I live in Midland and follow the Barnstormers online every day because he’s the manager. He’s also a great, person, good friend, dedicated family man and a very strong example to his young players.
Bob Stevens
Lou Pinella
I did not care for him the first season. I hope he does better this season.
Not sure I liked the revolving door approach he used last year.
It would seem counter productive to signing players, if they expect to leave before they get a chance to excel. And eventually that reputation might limit the prospect pool.
But this league is about moving up or out or both.
If he stay or goes…….I’ll let him decide.
My job is to watch and cheer.
His job is to do the best he can with the cards his is dealt.
I will take Lance Burkhart
Changing Managers every year isn`t the answer. Let Hayes put to use what he learned in 2008.
if von’s back….watch how many players don’t return. trust me, many aren’t coming back because of him…including rick wise. also, the grapevine spreads and there are players that won’t come to lancaster as new players because word has gotten out how he is as a manager. i agree we don’t need a new one each year but players have to want to come here and need to be happy with management to want to stay. all of you living in this fantasy land that the players should just be happy to be playing…wrong!
LOL…man, do you do parties and weddings? Hilarious!
“Weddings, parties, anything!”
“And bongo jams a speciality……………………”
I’m SO tired of this aluminum-foil-hat inspired conspiracy crap concerning Hayes. Wise is (repeat this with me) RETIRING. He’s 63 years old, doesn’t need the money, has made several references to missing his grandkids and lives in Oregon, last time I checked. If you really hate Hayes that much, do everyone else a favor and get Reading Phillies tickets. Or York tickets. Do something you LIKE. It’s easier to light a candle than to whine about the dark. Do that.
I have spoken with some well placed people and the players that matter will be back if need be. Remember many of the players we had last year were here because of Von. Many of our strong end of year players came because of Von. I bet dollars to donuts that the players who say they will not come back will come back if they need a job.
The climate will change this year and I have heard that Von acknowledges his mistakes and accepts them and is moving on… maybe the nay sayers should do the same.
Nice post Maureeen . As usual your comments are right on. We’ll see how the players react when they need a job and want to continue playing. NEVER say NEVER!
Got to give Von a chance you can not judge him on one year. He came from a developmental baseball program ( affiliated baseball) to this league where you play to win, not develop talent for the next rung on the ladder. Granted some of the guys were ” passing thru ” on their way back to the majors but many of they guys play for the love of the game. And I was one of the people who disliked Von. But I do believe we have to give him a chance, Tom Herr did not win his first season here either.
This is true, Von will get the chance he needs . He did bring players here. Rick is retiring It happens they do not play or coach forever.. Each year brings new talent and changes, I am up for them.. I will be sad if Lance does not come back, but I will be there every game to back the team that will be put together . Yes players will come and they will go that is how it works here. I support the team no matter who is on the field. they need and love the fans.. We just need not be so nasty to the players on here . We know alot of them read this. I hope I see many NEW changes this year, not just at the ballpark..
Good luck to all those who are in charge of getting the team together.
Sorry crazy…if this team plays poorly , it’s not going to be a Lovefest on this Blog.
We have every right in the world to post what we feel here when the Team plays well and when they stink up the joint.
Why do so many people on this blog think that it’s wrong to criticize players and the Team when they play like crap?? I don’t get it at all, I really don’t. Everyone is supposed to just have BLIND LOYALTY to everyone on and connected to this Team??? Rubbish…
I do not think crazy meant everyone should have ” blind loyality” to the team. But everyone has to realize this is a public forum and the players whether or not you want to believe it, read it. How would you feel if you were torn apart by people who are suppose to be your fans for some things that are out of you control. Remember this a team sport. And last year they had a extraordinary amount of injuries. I know I was one of the worst critics of the team at the time but looking back on the season it could have been alot worse. Atleast towards the end of the season they started to get players in who were healthy. That is what I based my previous comment about Von on.
The reason some guys do not play well is not out there for all to know. They may have issues that we do not know about. If they do not play well Von will let them go. So I see no need to disrespect them on here. They are humans and they do care. A lovefest, No RESPECT is all I was talking about. Go back and read last years blog some people got down right nasty for No reason..
This is a place to say what you want but it should not be at a level of disrespect .. I would like to feel that as fans we have a level that we will not go to..
Yes there will be games that fans will not like. Players fans will not like and to voice that here is ok but not to drag it on like the world is ending.
No one is perfect and not everyone will be happy all the time with the way the team plays.
All I ask is for the players to be treated with Respect.. If that is to much then maybe some people need to grow up..
I think we beat this to death. The results have been the same since day 1 of the poll: 2 to 1 to bring Von back.
In addition to the players, let’s treat the manager with respect. 2 to 1 to keep him, case closed.
Thank you Dabulls
I was thinking the same thing. Other polls were up for 2 or 3 days. This one for a week. Maybe we should do a poll to guess of Jason was shocked by the poll conclusion.
Alex, I’ll take “What’s on Jason’s mind” for $200. please.
maize,
I’ll offer my opinion soon on Hayes returning. I knew the possibility of Herr being a coach was there and I wanted to see how that unfolded before commenting. I think the men the Barnstormers hire to surround Hayes is an extremely important factor in determining how 2009 goes.
Also, I’d like to apologize for not writing much lately. I just haven’t had much time for a variety of reasons, including being out of town for the last week or so. I promise the blog will become more lively after the holidays pass.
It’s OK if you have a life outside the blog Jason. Really, it’s OK.
Merry Christmas…
and I don’t care if its politically incorrect
