Here’s a name to remember as the Barnstormers continue their search for the second pitching coach in team history:
Jon Warden.
Manager Von Hayes said last week that Warden was under consideration for the job. Warden is a former major leaguer who played on the Detroit Tigers’ World Series championship team in 1968. He coached under manager Darrell Evans with the Long Beach Armada in the Golden League.
The Barnstormers aren’t expected to hire a pitching coach until after the new year. Rick Wise filled that role from 2005-08 before opting not to return for next season.

If my memory serves me right. I think Jon pitched only in 28 games with the Detriot Tigers in 1968 with a 4-1 record and a 3.62 ERA and injured his arm in spring training the next year. Jon was with the Tigers in ‘68 World Series but didn’t pitch.
Heck of a memory you got the Mr.C.
Guess I am just way to young to remember stats that far back…
Now that you mention it, If I remember correctly I think Jon also hit a single in the third regular season game of ‘66 and then later went on to get walked twice and strike out once. After the game he went and had a meatball sub.
Ha Ha Ha, your too much Mr. B…. hows the puppy?
Hmmm, puppy? I have a Beta fish, but no puppy. Must be another Mr B. Or an imposter!
I am trying to talk my wife into letting me get a dog. If I do I’m totally naming him Bosco.
So Sorry Mr. B. I was thinking Barney Stormer… he has a Labby puppy, although she is probably not a pup anymore. Bosco would be a great name for a dog but you should probably ask for Jasons’ permission first.
Do you care Jason? I understand if it would be weird. I could also name him Mingo after my favorite Indian.
Rad – The pup is now 8 months old. As you know with labs we will have to wait until she is 6 or 7 for her to start calming down. She can’t wait for Dog Daze 2009!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and wishing you all a happy and healthy new year.
HOW ‘BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aww, Hi Barney,
Yeah, how bout them Cowgirlies !!!! I had to miss the second half of the game due to another family X-mas celebration.
My Labby took 6 years to calm down and now that she’s 11 we give her Nupro to make her feel young again… go figure.
I will truely miss Rick Wise but I am really looking forward to the start of the 09 season
Happy New Year my fellow bloggers. You to Woodsie
When will player contracts be offered and signed. I notice some other teams have players listed, but Lancaster has nothing showing so far. Thank you
Geronimo,
Usually, the first players start getting signed in early February and transactions pick up speed in March after affiliated teams begin cutting players.
