UPDATE:
How did the Barnstormers fare?
* Lloyd Turner: 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs
* Jed Morris: 2-for-2
* Mike Woods: 0-for-5
* Bryan Sabatella: 0-for-3
* Eric Ackerman: 1 scoreless inning
* Ryan Cullen: 1 perfect inning
The Barnstormers have never had an MVP in an all-star game. Is tonight the night? Lloyd Turner, Mike Woods, Jed Morris, Bryan Sabatella, Eric Ackerman and Ryan Cullen are the honorees this year.
Although I’m never sure how much interest there is in this game when it’s not being played in the area, feel free to talk about it here. Or check out AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com for coverage. I hope to have a new post up here Wednesday, likely focusing on the closer situation.

I think the Ticket prices are a little high. It’s not MLB AllStar game
Can’t make it to Newark tonight, but I hear lots of people are making the trip. I hope you all have fun including some of my baseball buddies who I hear are going – Scott, Amy, Debbie and Dawn and their families! Go Barnstormers!
The Atlantic league says it’s mid season and the all star game is to be played tonight. In my book it isn’t mid season until the 1st half is over and it doesn’t make sense picking players to play when their stats for the next 15 games aren’t included. Ah well…money rules everything and I won’t be listening.
I haven’t seen anything about a replacement for Cullen in the ASG.
Anyone heard any news?
Is there a link to be able to listen to the All Star game? I can’t find a link to any radio broadcasts on any of the websites.
Michael Woods (RF) and LLoyd Turner (SS) are starters for the All-Star Freedom Division. Not bad, guys!
Go Stormers!

I guess it’s “what did you do for us last year” when selecting all stars since Woods has played barely half of 2/3 of the season’s first half, and was still selected with numbers that are declining steadily.
Plus you have a guy who is hitting just above .300 but is a huge liability to the team by not permforming defensively. A catcher’s main responsibilty is to call a great game and to throw out or prevent baserunners from advancing, and the current 6-7% success rate is unheard of at any level. A catcher who plays defense AND hits is a bonus except at Lancaster. The got a zerox copy in Hearon.
How long is VonHerr going to let walks and singles be doubles, and is it fair to the pitching staff to have to work so hard to keep a baserunner close because they know the guy is running at first chance.
This is what I don’t understand about the reward system at any level-but that’s just me.
Good luck to the other four all stars, it was deserved.
Fan Forever –
I don’t believe the game is being broadcast. The Atlantic League website link posted by Jason gives the inning-by-inning results.
Michael Woods struck out in the 1st and and the Freedom Div is up 1-0 in the bottom of the 2nd.
MMantle – serious question for you…is there anything you like about the Barnstormers? I am honestly not trying to start a blog firestorm, I am curious since you typically do not say anything that is positive about the team.
What’s your point? It’s not MLB. So what are you expecting?? I don’t get it!! You bitch and bitch and bitch about the bad plays. Exactly why do you watch??
I agree with Stormin’. If you hate it soooo much, why do you watch?? Why do you follow it? Why do you sign in under 6 different names? Just to get your jollies off by busting someone?? How sad.
to try to make the reall baseball fans upset.. Just let him go ,, He does not get it, . He thinks the guys should be playing like the majors do or better..
what will he do when this all goes away?? who will he fight with then???
I guess he is like a major player living in a small town..
I say we vote MMantle off the island as they do in Survivor. lol
Obviously we can’t do that, but we can all agree to totally ignore MMantle’s posts. When we see a MMantle post simply skip over it. Don’t be tempted to read it!
Like Stormin said there are all kinds of fans, but in the end you would think every kind of fan supports the team in some way at some time and can find something positive to say. Unfortunately, MMantle is unable to do that and perhaps needs to find a new team to devote his fanship too. Is that even a word?
Sooner or later when MMantle’s has nobody left to play with he/she will go away. MMantle will take his toys and go home.
I for one and many of the bloggers choose to focus on the good and support the team during the good, the bad and the ugly. Go Barnstormers!
Please don’t copy material from other sites and paste it into the comments section. If you want to post a link, that’s fine.
YAY.. nicely said Ultimate. MM has some real anger issues and needs happy pills.
Having gone to HS in Florida and loving baseball. I am thirlled to have a team right here at home to watch. Sure, its fun to go see the Reading Phills or Harrisburg Senators.. but the (OUR) Stormers are right here in Lancaster. I can enjoy the game, enjoy chatting it up with all my girlfriends, and at the end of the game… be home in 5 minutes.
We have lost several players to affiliated ball this season and should be proud of that fact!
Looking forward to Sunday in SoMD.
Go Barnstormers
MMantle, the tribe has spoken. Go back to your Yankee dreams living in the past. When was the last time they made the playoffs?
Looking forward to the team getting tuned up for the 2nd half. Anything on a replacement for Cullen?
Ultimate Barnstormers Fan for Blogger HOF (great 7:22am post)
Just FYI, York was awarded the 2011 All Star Game. Long Island next year.
I personally saw Lloyd Turner as being named the mvp before Benitez came in and blew the game for the Freedom division. After that it was a foregone conclusion that Mike Just was your mvp.
As far as my observations from the game….Newark did a pretty diasppointing job with the all star game….no programs, the cutting back of the autograph session, opening the gates about three hours before the celebrity even began, (nothing to do ) , background noise (I guess that was music) on the sound system? No batting practice for the players on the field.? Supposedly there were scouts there….how were the players to get properly warmed up for the game….some went to the cages in the of but not all of them. Celebrity softball game was pretty much “fluff” and nothing special….too many “entourage types” on the sidelines made it hard to see the actual game anyway. Seems like most of the crowd was louder and more into the celebrity game than the actual game itself and the crowd thinned considerably after the softball game. I hear some people behind me making comments that showed they were only there for the softball game. UGH. I wouldn’t have paid the money they did to see that.
DaBulls – Thanks for your support! “The Tribe has spoken…” gave me a good laugh today. Indeed I think we have spoken!
Sounds like Newark could have learned some lessons from the Barnstormers for putting on a good show and giving people what they should expect from such an event. Not even a program???? Hopefully, we can count on LI to put on an excellent event next year. Hope I can make it.
Atlantic League Website has announced several moves by the Stormers…..3 New Pitchers….all Relievers with Major League experience..most Notable is Alphonseca a RP that one year had 40 Saves for the Marlins.
Lundberg retired and D’Allesandro was released.

Booby, check Jason’s latest post.
A great All-Star highlight, as reported by Mike Ashmore: Randy Foye being traded to the Wizards during the celebrity softball game. Classic.
