Eric Ackerman 2-5, 3.56 ERA |
| Shane Youman 0-2, 5.16 ERA |

UPDATE: Eric Junge named Atlantic League pitcher of the month for June. The righthander was 4-1 with a 1.73 ERA in five appearances.
Somerset made it official Wednesday night. The Patriots secured the first-half title in the Freedom Division and clinched their eighth playoff appearance in the last 10 years. There really was no celebration on the field following the game, giving one the sense that Somerset felt its first-place finish was inevitable all along. After a while, the rest of the division felt the same way.
“It’s nice to have a celebration, but we didn’t win anything yet,” Somerset manager Sparky Lyle told Burt Wilson of Lancaster Newspapers. “We just won the right to go to the playoffs.”
The second half looks wide open without a clear favorite between the Barnstormers, Revs and Bears.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Eric Ackerman allowed three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings in his only appearance against York this season. Shane Youman, a former Barnstormer, pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in his last appearance against his old team. This is his third start of the season.
INJURY NEWS: OF Quincy Foster and 2B Danny Bravo are expected to miss tonight’s game. Foster injured his wrist on a check swing Wednesday night. Bravo has been bothered by a hamstring problem.
PERSONAL NOTE: I will be working for the Barnstormers in a public relations/writing capacity for the remainder of the season. I will continue to keep this blog updated and will write some content for the team’s official site: LancasterBarnstormers.com.

Congratulations on the new position. We can only hope the team gives you the lattitude to continue to write honestly (which, at times, means writing critically) about the team and the organization as a whole!
congrats to Eric…well deserved honor!
Congrats to one Eric and good luck to another tonight. I saw where former Stormer Mike Carusco is now playing for Newark.
BTW, great to hear your employment news however I am disappointed that you will not be pitching for the Stormers which was the rumor.
Congrats, Jason – good to hear you landed on your feet.
I hope, though, that you were able to negotiate an ‘opt out’ clause to be on the grounds crew when rain is imminent.
Well deserved Jason. Please maintain your objectivity even though there are some that just don’t want to face the facts, truths and consequeces of the Barnstormers.
Way to go Eric….this means you have to stay in Lancaster for a minimum of 68-days now *read small print of contract*.
I hate to see Bravo out of the lineup-he was making much better contact recently and they would have started falling.
Great news! Congrats to Jason!
“You start wearing the blue and brown, you’re working for the clampdown”
“Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!
“
I’m glad you are able to stay in down, Jason. Even nicer is that you get to be on the Barnstormer staff as a public relations/writing personnel. Cool beans!

Congrats Jason, I am glad that you have obtained a job with the Barnstormers. It will fit it nicely with what you have been doing. I have said all along that if it wasnt for you I wouldnt have gotten 50-60% of the Barnstormer information that I have received.
Also, I commend the Barnstormers for giving Jason an opportunity to further show how much he can increase the interest in the Barnstormers from a media perspective.
I believe Jason can continue to be a positive influence in increasing the interest in the Barnstormers.
Congratulations Jason and congratulations to the Barnstormers on a move that I will think help them immensely.
I would think Bravo pulled a hamstring just trying to bat in the contorted batting stance.
Amen, Pack. May be the best aquisition all year!
Cogratulations Jason! It was great to see you back in your perch last night. As Pack said, you can be a real asset promoting this team. Great win for the team tonight. The first of hopefully many saves for The Octopus!
I was not initially impressed with the signing of Antonio Alfonseca, but he has impressed me since then. I like his apparent go get em attitude toward pitching to his opponents.
And I appreciated his sign all the autographs that wanted to be signed attitude on Monday night. I know the game was still going on, but AA was done for the night. He still signed a lot of autographs down the right field line. I am sure everyone of those people were quite pleased to get his autograph that night. He looked like he was enjoying himself as much as the fans that night.
His signing down the right field line reminded me of Lee Smith. I attended a game at the Vet and Lee Smith was a member of the opposing team. I sat and watched him sign autographs for 20 minutes, no exaggeration. He started to sign a few autos and then a line formed and he didnt stop until every fan had an autograph (it was before a game.) He impressed me for doing that in an opposing ball park.
Antonio’s fan friendly attitude and closer mentality has made Barnstormer baseball more exciting for me.
Andy and I say “Welcome back, Bert.” : )
