RECORD: 1-0 (34-37)
Looking at Friday’s box:
* Jason Scobie fired seven shutout innings and has a 2.40 ERA in 15 innings this month. His renaissance could be a huge boost for the starting rotation.
* Nick Abel recorded the final out and earned his first Atlantic League save. The righthander has allowed just one run in 9 2/3 innings.
* Michael Campbell produced his third 3-hit game on this road trip. He’s 12-for-37 this month to hike his average to .234 and he seems to be benefitting from more playing time.
* Newark has lost eight of its last 10 games, is 21-31 since May 15, and has already used 61 players this season. Has the revolving door caught up to the Bears?

Booby I remember the subs at kilgores too…they toasted them..I worked at Schwalms at Green and Lime from 65 to 68 and got my lunch there…loved them.
Newark sounds like Lancaster last year with the revolving door..
You guys are making me feel like a baby at 40!
Today is a great day for baseball.
Will a Lancaster catcher EVER throw out a baserunner again in 2009? As both guys offensive production dimenishes, maybe vonhERR needs to alternate them again and keep their strength up.
I know he’s not hitting as well as a couple of week ago, but please put Sabatella back at first. He’s an allstar for heck’s sake and hERRor, Mulhern and now Woods aren’t benched when they’re not hitting.
Isn’t it nice to have a centerfielder who makes all of the plays and not misjudge/misplay balls hit their way.
Watson is hitting .077 but “he has been impressive in his outs.” How long will vonhERR let this go on?
Lloyd, Lloyd, Lloyd. You cannot play shortstop if you let balls go between your wickets allowing the other team to make a run at you when your pitching has been so good.
Lastly, a funny story. Announcer for Long Island told this on-air about Lancaster’s Haran on Thursday night…
When Haran was playing last year, he ask for and wore #4 on his baseball jersey. One day a couple of his teammates ask him why he wore that number since it was unusual for a catcher and this is what Haran said…. “When I was growing up my dad’s favorite baseball player was Mickey Mantle and I wanted to wear his number (4) because of that”. After rolling on the ground for several minutes Haran’s teammates told him that the Mantle’s number was ‘7′. Haran was kiddingly called “Mick” the rest of the season.
Barnstormers are in first place. It IS a great day for America’s game.
MMantle is in the HOF!
Nice to see Herr and Turner having their hitting streaks going. Good luck tonight guys you all have been doing great.
MMantle,
Woods is out for a family funeral.
Watson will be a great player for the ‘Stormers. Let him play. He’s a professional hitter.
Agreed southernalfan!
I like close games.
Bullpen has been making pitches tonight.
Sounds like Campbell hasn’t swung at a pitch that he’s seen tonight. In dirt/outside/over head? My pet squirrel could strike out three times in a game.
Great job hERRor on the HR.
Everyone said Mulhern and hERRor were big league hitters.
Maybe it was the bad weather on road games that made Barnstormers the worst road team in the league.
Way to go to Lloyd and now Gerard on their home runs!! Way to go Stormers!!!
fanofstormers19…what about Aaron Herr? haha
Did I read the Barnstormers site right? Turner a Grand Slam?
Hey I just checked Yorks website and PJ hit a Grand Slam walkoff in the 9th.
PJ can smack the ball. That’s for sure. He always has hit well against us.
Keep it going, guys. This road trip is turning into a memorable one for the 2009 season.
I’m liking the hitting that’s taking place. Looking forward to your return home.
Good luck today!
