If the Barnstormers are going to reverse their fortunes in 2010, they’ll need to start beating Somerset and Long Island. Lancaster’s record against those rivals is 8-31 this season. Since the Barnstormers entered the league in 2005, the Patriots and Ducks have been perennial playoff teams. The only time one of them failed to reach the postseason was Somerset in 2006, when BASA was running the team’s baseball operations. Those two franchises are the standard for regular season success.
The Barnstormers’ chances of breaking .500 have taken a hit with this three-game losing streak in Bridgewater, N.J. They will have to win each of their final six games to achieve a winning record in the second half.

Mulhern along with Herr was suppose to carry the load this summer. How disappointing was this guy’s performance including his defensive skills.
After seeing him, Cooper, Gold and Herr, I’m thinking AAA really isn’t what we imagined AAA should be. Plus, did they allow base stealing in the colleges attended by Haran and Morris? A 5-6% success rate at throwing out runners is well below the 30-31% standard in minor league baseball. I guess they would be good bullpen catchers, but this position needs to be upgraded.
The Z, Campbell and Sabby would have contributed a lot more over a full season than these guys if they had played everyday. If the team is put together again next year like this one including Woods and Turner, there will be no playoffs in Lancaster’s future……again.
Thank you so much, Jason, for allowing us a place to go throughout the year to discuss and debate Barnstormer team issues with other dedicated fans.
I am hoping that this great blog has not become a conflict of interest for you in your new position with the Barnstormer organization. If so, I could understand the need for you to either pass the site to another or close it.
Please don’t keep us hanging while we anticipate your next move with the site…
Once again… Thank You!
Now for the team…
Well it’s not like most here on the blog didn’t see this coming from some time ago.
The Von and Tommy thing just didn’t make it despite much hope of their many fans. Leaving Tommy with a “broken team” and expecting him to turn things around was totally unrealistic. I hope he returns for the 2010 season.
What players would I like to see back here next year? There are many who I liked who’s personalities are enjoyable to witness on the field. But one position that needs a boost is major overhaul is catcher. We need someone who will not allow all base on balls and singles to become scoring threats at second base. We did not find that person in who we fielded this season. I like Haran, but he proved to be a much better hitter than he was a base stealing robber. Okay… I could see him returning as a potential DH or back-up catcher.
Lloyd Turner, Michael Woods, and LJ Biernbaum will hopefully be offered a return contract. I think Aaron starting to play some ball late in the season and showed his potential which was on a vacation early on. I believe that Aaron should return.
I’m not ready to throw Michael to the wind. He had a difficult year, but one year should not be the downfall in his career. Heck, he was our MVP in 2008!
Matt Watson was a late bloomer, too. He deserves another look during spring training.
I like Big Ben Fritz, Eric Ackerman, and Zack Parker, and Jim (Wild Thing) Heuser.
That’s 9 players out of 30, plus the manager…
What do we need?
Much better bull pen
A Big Bat (or two)
Production from the middle infield
Overall Consistency
Strength and Conditioning Coach

Here is another big plus.. We beat Brian Adams…..
That is definitely a plus. He had our number this year for sure.
Adams has had the Stormers number for 2-3 yrs.
I would like to see Paul Thorp back for 2010. Missed him this past year.
