Patterson re-signs with Yankees

After testing the minor-league free agent waters, Scott Patterson has decided to re-sign with the Yankees. The former Barnstormers closer has been placed on the team’s 40-man roster, which puts him that much closer to the big leagues.

Woods activated

Quick roster note …
Utility man Mike Woods has been activated from the disabled list. Relief pitcher Manny Vazquez-Santiago was traded to the Chillicothe Paints of the Frontier League in exchange for the famous player to be named later.

Griffith to Frontier League

Former Barnstormers pitcher Derek Griffith has signed with the Slippery Rock Sliders of the Frontier League. Griffith is a 6-6 lefty who won’t turn 25 until October, so there’s still plenty of time for him to earn another affiliated shot.
Other former Stormers in the Frontier League include Alex Derhak, Chris Clem and Domingo Acosta.
