Now that Barnstormin’ has boldly predicted the season won’t fall into the infinite abyss – a commentary that could live in infamy depending on how the rest of the season goes – we turn our attention to the Route 30 rivalry (weather permitting). The Barnstormers venture into the [...]

With two days left until the season opener, the Barnstormers are still tinkering with their roster. They have agreed to terms with OF Jarred Ball and P Rob Averette.
Ball, 25, is a switch-hitting CF who was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the ninth round in 2001. He spent his entire career in the D’backs’ [...]

Matt LeCroy is one of the most accomplished players to ever sign with the Barnstormers. He spent parts of eight seasons in the big leagues, hitting 60 home runs in 476 games. He also played in 10 postseason games, including one start in the 2002 ALCS with the Twins.

It turns out Damian Moss is Reggie Taylor’s teammate with the Triple-A Richmond Braves. Moss, of course, signed with the Barnstormers in August, but never appeared in a game. He was deemed unable to pitch because he was recovering from injury. Seven months later, he’s good enough (and healthy enough) for Triple-A. That’s quite a [...]

It was a long road back for Taylor, who – incredibly – hasn’t played in an affiliated game since Sept. 5, 2005. He spent spring training with the Tigers in 2006 and [...]

The Yankees have finalized their opening-day roster. Scott Patterson isn’t on it. The team reassigned the righthander to minor-league camp late Friday. He’s expected to open the season in Triple-A.
Patterson never had a real chance to make the club. That’s the only conclusion you can draw from this decision. If a pitcher faces 24 hitters [...]
