Nick Renault
5-6, 5.08* ERA

D.J. Mattox
0-2, 8.18 ERA

Von Hayes’ post-game press conference took an immediate Socratic turn Wednesday night. It was the manager who fired the first question. “What do you think was the difference in that game?” Hayes asked. Reporters are wary of this tact because we tend to look at baseball differently than managers [...]

Eric Ackerman
0-0, 2.80 ERA

Brian Reith
1-0, 7.62 ERA

The numbers are well-known by now. The Barnstormers are 5-2 at home and 1-9 on the road. A discrepancy that great doesn’t make much sense. Sure, playing at the Clip is an advantage, but it shouldn’t turn a team from the ‘62 Mets into the ‘27 Yankees. There are [...]

Ricardo Gomez
0-1, 3.38 ERA

Steve Kelly
1-1, 4.80 ERA

When the Riversharks rolled into town last week, minus half their starting lineup because of injuries and departures, we talked about how quickly fortunes can change in the Atlantic League. The Barnstormers have also made that discovery. They’re only 16 games into the season and they’re without their ace, [...]

Ian Bladergroen’s deal became official today. The first baseman, acquired in a trade with Southern Maryland last week, becomes the 18th player under contract. He’s also the first starting position player signed who wasn’t on last year’s team.
The Barnstormers clearly coveted Bladergroen.
“Ian is someone we’ve wanted since day one,” head of baseball operations Keith Lupton [...]

Derrick DePriest was the only member of the Barnstormers to make the postseason All-Star team. Rather than snubbing a big name, the Atlantic League also honored Danny Graves. So they’re co-relievers of the year.
Jeff Scott of the Road Warriors won manager of the year. Brian Adams of Somerset is pitcher of the year. Victor Rodriguez [...]

Game 1

VS SOMERSET PATRIOTS
Brandon Knight (11-5, 4.26 ERA) vs.
Barry Armitage (3-3, 4.83 ERA)
The Barnstormers return to their house of misery one last time. They are 1-7 at Commerce Bank Ballpark this season. Four of those losses have been by one run and two were decided by late-inning wild pitches. Somerset is looking for a six-game [...]

VS SOMERSET PATRIOTS
Keith Ramsey (5-9, 4.84 ERA) vs.
Eric Ackerman (5-1, 4.06 ERA)
With the rotation being held together by duct tape, the Barnstormers will give Ackerman his first start of the season. Ackerman has been a valuable all-purpose pitcher during his two-year tenure in Lancaster, but he didn’t excel in this role in 2006. The [...]
