AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com reports that the Harrisburg Senators have released Juan Melo. The infielder batted .239 with four homers and 23 RBIs in 54 games for the Washington Nationals’ Double-A club.

There’s a column in today’s New Era about former Barnstormers manager Tom Herr, who made his debut with the Single-A Hagerstown Suns tonight. The Suns lost 5-4 to the Hickory Crawdads at Municipal Stadium.

Reggie Taylor didn’t make the cut with the Washington Nationals. He was released earlier in the week.
Taylor found himself in an uphill climb this spring. He wasn’t invited to Nationals camp until two weeks after it started and the organization already had an excess of veteran outfielders.

It turns out Reggie Taylor is in minor-league camp with the Washington Nationals. The former Barnstormers outfielder has been in Melbourne, Fla. for the past two weeks trying to earn a spot with the Nationals’ Double-A or Triple-A affiliate.
